Hey Bill,

Xenia are very touchy but can act as tank monitors in a sense. I have found the three main things they are sensative too are alk, iodine, and temp....you did say your params are all in check though...is there any chemical warefare going on between corals? I would run carbon or a polyfilter just to be safe....they can work miracles sometitmes :) hth.

I would check your water parameters to make sure your DKH, alkalinity is between 8-10, and your PH 8.1-8.3, and zeros on the other tests. Iodine is not a necessary since it is present in a good quality salt, i.e. Tropic Marin, especially if you do weekly water changes, 10% based on tank volume.

Xenia also do not do well in "perfect" water parameters, they like their water a little "dirty" Thats why many people recommend them for Nitrate control.

AND if they've been living in shade, they take a while to adjust to strong light. They may turn dark and shrivel, minimizing light absorption, in that case.

thank you sk8r thats exactly what they seem to be doing because the person i got all the colonys fromand the roch had it in a 29 hex and it bearly fit ion the tank and the large anenome covers the top and the xenia are all on the sides towards the bottom being blocked alot from light due to the anenome but now its in a 180 and has room to move so i think thats the problem .

thank you
