my tank is 36 x 32 x 20 so basically a cube, is one light enough ? i am thinking it might lack light towards the edges of the tank but my corals wouldnt be placed there anyways, hope someone can chime in
Thanks !!!

Depends on the corals you are keeping?? I would go 2 for sure if you are keeping SPS and unless you are going with the wide lens you will not reach 36" IMO I barely reach 32" and the ends are little dark

Yes 1 light is enough. You would have to get the Wide Angle Lens. With the regular TRI Lens you'll get a coverage of 24". Now with the Wide Angle Lens you'll get a coverage of 36".

I had a similar issue, 36" is a tough dimension for the lighting options we have in the hobby. It is an odd in between (no pun intended) of 2' and 4' tanks. Using two Radions is expected for a 4' tank, and a single Radion is suitable for a 2' tank. The problem overall for lights of this design is that unless you have a dense combination of them, shading occurs on the sides of SPS. I have even seen people with 2x Radions over a 24" cube because of this effect.

My first tank was a 36" x 18" and even with this tank, a single Radio Pro (gen2) was no where near enough light coverage for my taste. The sides of the tank were very shaded and I didn't like the non-uniform look.

It is a tough pill to swallow, but I didn't like the look that a single Radion gave me over 36". I ended up switching to a LED/t5 hybrid lamp because it was the same price as two Radions.

Kevotron,

I would recommend using 1 XR30w Pro with Wide Angle Lenses or 2 XR15w Pro if you plan on keeping livestock that requires high light.

if i do xr30w pro with wide angle lenses would i still be able to keep sps ?

Likely yes, depending on PAR you want them to receive. The higher-up and closer you place your SPS being directly below the Radions with wide-angle lenses will provide those specimens with maximum PAR -- it drops off from there the further down and out you go from the center of the LED in your tank. PAR is 60+% less than the normal lenses in some positions -- for some people that want to blast their tanks with super-high intensity (approaching 100% with standard lenses) that loss of PAR is an issue, others like me where SPS are only part of the collection and I can run the Radions at 90-100% with the wide-angle lenses and not cook everything else in the tank, perhaps not.

Check out a couple other threads here with some PAR readings from a couple of us in our tanks and you can compare those to other stats with normal lenses and make up your mind.

I have looked at the par comparisons between the standard 80degree vs the 120 wide angle from the ecotech site, their readings were based on a 48"x48" area with a 24" height
i would imagine if i lowered my light to 12" my par readings throughout the whole tank would be higher, now the question is what par levels do SPS benefit the most from ?
hope that made sense lol

Kevotron- it varies greatly depending on the individual species-

I would echo Alex's recommendation of one (1) XR30w Pro with Wide Angle Lenses or two (2) XR15w Pros.
