Okay... I am so proud of myself. I did my first water change tonight. It's only the 55 gal, but it's quite a process!

Tubes, hoses, garbage cans, sucking hoses, unplug this, plug that in, move a motor to get salt mixed with water, blah blah blah.

Had a great teacher!

It's pretty easy. I have a feeling HE will have me doing more because this went so smoothly... Perhaps I should have played stupid.

LOL.

Just wanted to let you all know!

YEAH ME!
"hercules! hercules"

Good to hear all went well and you didn't forget something like adding salt to the water or turning the pump(s) back one etc.. Sometime post some pics of your tank for us to see, maybe there's a few good idea's for you out here. :)

Hey I'm in St. Pete too, good to hear another St. Pete reefer on board!

ha ha ha ha... Yeah, he sat there dictating to me what he wanted done.

It's a pain in the butt to do, but I don't see what the big deal is.
I need to figure something out for my tank. It's so boring looking. It's supposed to be the "fish only tank" and I am just NOT happy. It's bland. The sand - shells on the bottom look dirty - I don't know where he got those from. The liverock is B-O-R-I-N-G... and well, the fish leave little to be enjoyed.

----> Perhaps I am grumpy about my tank today... It just is boring me.

-MUST GOOOOO BIGGER-

ha ha ha ha ha... If Ian saw this he'd freak!

Now that you have some practice, would you like to do mine, lol? As for the FOWLR, try some good looking rock covered with coralline and maybe some macroalgae. As for fish, I think it's a guy thing to pick boring fish. Every fish I like, my husband says is "flamboyant".

ha ha ha ha. I agree with that Laura... I got a Lion fish - and he gave it away... I want a manatee. Is that too much to ask for? LMAO.... Flamboyant!!! Yeah, that's me for sure.

The rest of what he said about my fish selections is not UA friendly, lol. On the macroalgaes, just read up beforehand so you don't pick up anything that can "go sexual" because sometimes the release is enough to be toxic. Somebody was telling me they had some grape caulerpa go sexual and it just about crashed the tank. You also don't want to get anything that is going to be so invasive that it out competes the other algaes and takes over.

so many things to think about. Gonna do hubby's tank today - water change... Something about the protien being too high or something... Not sure... That one is a biggie and I am a little nervous.

Talk at cha.
