Yellow Coris Wrase Never Appeared Again

Bought a coris wrase 2 weeks ago, put him in and here I am I never seen that guy again. Its a small 30g cube, with one clown.... chances its dead?

It may or may not be dead. It is possible for a burying wrasse to remain buried for up to a month when especially frightened, dont go digging for it, as this often makes matters worse.

A 30g is on the small size for this fish as it grows so be prepared to act down the road if it is still alive.

It could still be alive. They sleep/hide in the sand and may still be there. Give it more time to shake off the jet lag and whatever you do, DON'T try to find it in the sand.

Do you have a enclosed overflow? Bought a running setup once and found the 6 line he bought 4 months earlier when we tore it down and he did just fine after setting it back up.

my yellow coris stayed buried for 2 months. i did get a couple of fleeting glimpses of him during that time but nothing more than a nanosecond. give it more time before you consider it a goner.

Woah really a month in hiding?? the guy I got is pretty small, and is no where big or close to the transformation stage.

I have had lime green wrasse (close cousins) hide for 3 weeks-month.

My yellow coris hid for about two weeks or more before he came out.

Seems they come out sooner with more wrasse in tank (see that they might be safer)

You stress them out more, and thus they hide more. If they hide too much or too long, they don't eat enough and may starve and die. In short, stress is not good for fish. Don't go "fishing" for him (pun intended).

Leave it be. If he comes out, he's fine. If he doesn't, he's dead.

After thinking it through my little yellow coris probably hid 2-3 weeks before he came out. Now he's always out.

They can go quite a while without eating. And just because you don't see him doesn't mean he isn't coming out to eat when you're feeding, or come out and eat stuff when you're not around. They often slowly transition until one day they come out when you're feeding
