Yellow Coris Wrasse

I bought one of these cool guy from the awesome LFS Studio Blue. After dropping him I put him in my tank. He was in there for less than an hour and went hiding. Is that normal? I have a glass lid and I checked the filter. No Wrasse to be found. Do Wrasse like to hide? He was very active at the store.

Yes Normal behavior.

Yes totally normal they will hide in the sand or rock. May take a couple weeks but it will come out and be active in the day.

Ok. Well it has been a couple of weeks and there is no sign of him. I did a water change because it was time for one and I hardly gravel braces because I didn’t wat to hit or squish him. It would be cool if he was still alive, but I have my doughts.

I bet it's still alive. I've heard some had burying wrasse hide for a month or more.

It might be coming out when you're not around. I have had a couple of these before, have one now. It takes them some time to get into the lighting rythum of your tank. Also if it feels threatened by other fish or people walking by it will duck down into the sand. Once they get comfortable and realize your not a threat, and actually a food source it will change and be one the most active swimming colorful fish in your tank.
