Hiya everyone!

I have a question about my yellow eyed tang. he is about medium size and just recently ive noticed that on his tail he has a spike growing out of the skin.... I have a yellow tang about medium to large size and he has the same spikes on his tail, but his are white. I was just wondering if the spike comes through when they mature?

You should see them from an early age, I've gotten very small tangs in that have them.

Depending where you got the fish from can affect it... some dealers clips the "tangs" off the fish to make for easier shipping and less damage to the person trying to net and ship :)

Their tangs will grow back after being clipped though. My kole broke one of his tangs and it grew back to normal size.

very nice, i actually thought that he had some kind of injury but when i looked closer i noticed it was the "tangs" interesting.... thankse for all the input!

Oops, I thought that was just infered from what I said.

Some dealers cut them off, so that might be why he is just noticing them now, because it's just starting to grow back :)
