Last week my lfs got 1 shipped in ......same color as this 1. Here is it different......the lfs can't choose or order what they want. They can order like anemones, but they can't choose what color.
Well there are two types of sebaes, crispa or malu, and I have seen a malu that color naturally, pretty sure it was orion that had or maybe still has it.
Can't swear what the deal is on that though, need a better pic really.
So unfortunate how they dye crispa. It is possible to bring the anemone back to good health, but it will be touch and go. At the very least, if I were you I would tell the lfs owner the anemone is dyed and that they should not purchase other dyed sebaes. It often proves fatal to the anemone and that knowledgeable aquarists will see the shop as less reputable if they continue to stock dyed anemones.
I think that it is a dyed Crispa. My yellow anemone was a Magnifica. Not anywhere near as intense or uniform foot and tentacles as that anemone. I would not buy that anemone. Let the LFS eat the cost. If they keep getting this from the wholesaler, they should avoid order from that wholesaler.
My yellow Magnifica:
My LFS thought they received a dyed gigantea, so they complained to the wholesaler who have them credit for it. I really hope the dye-ing of nems stops because a huge percentage of them end up dead.
Since they are almost all water I would assume it's pretty easy.
I too wish the dying would stop, I keep seeing those Easter colored looking LTA's.
That yellow mag of Orions is bright and beautiful, I know someone on here has a Malu almost as bright and yellow as that which has been posted here, but agree, OP's does not look natural.
