yellow tang feed

Hi everyone,

I added a small yellow tang on Wednesday 6th, and so far he doesn't eat at all.
I have a plenitude of algae in both, rocks and back glass and he doesn't grass at all. I've tried to feed with nori, lettuce, brineshrimp and shrimp. He doesn't eat anything at all.
Anyone have an idea to make this little fellow eat and survive?

Two days isn't nearly long enough to worry. Although tangs are considered ''herbivores" (they also eat lots of tiny crustaceans, etc.), I always feed my new tangs mysis as a first food. Of course, they have greens available too. It sounds like this fish isn't in a QT; I hope this works out, tangs are notorious carriers of ich. IMO & IME, its also easier to get fish eating in a QT as well. No bullies, peaceful, no competition, etc.

Put a algea clip I'n the tank & the tang will feed on it if hungary. My powderbrown tang did the same. After the 2nd day I guess he got hungry and ate the seaweed clip

mysis it is the next option, where i live it's easy to pick live mysis. The tank community is very peaceful, the only tang i have is an hepatus and i haven't aggressive fishes. I order the fish so small to avoid the diseases. With the hepatus it has resulted, lets hope it works this time too.
I have an algae clip with nori but he doesn't even approach it. I also tied nori to a rock but unsuccessfully too.

I don't think small fish are less likely to carry diseases/parasites than bigger ones. However, they often acclimate easier.

Try feeding it the live mysis or live brine shrimp to get it started eating.

Mine didn't eat for about 4 or 5 days. As soon as I tried mysis soaked in fresh garlic juice it ate like crazy. After that it ate whatever I gave it. Good luck.

Garlic soaked foods (mysis, NLS pellets, or Nori) usually work for me. I've also tried fish roe (from the Asian markets) and almost all my finicky eaters go for them.

Hi guys,

I tried live mysis today and the fish didn't eat them.
The garlic juice seams a good idea, i will try it tomorrow.
I'm concern because it's not normal...i have a macropharyngodon negrosensis, referenced as hard to feed but it always ate live mysis and in 2 weeks it was eating frozen bryneshrimp...this yellow tang doesn't eaven show interest...
