My yellow tang in the 36 is 2.5" a juevinile that will be going to my 75g if its not dying any ways :( but I'm asking is it truly dying it had black ich when I got it ( i didn't see it when i bought it )and it went away on its own with healthy feeding habits as I didn't catch to many hiding spots but now its acting strange I read in a few places it kind of sounds like cyanide poisoning its darting back and fourth kind of swiming against the glass like its trying to attack me or itself also swims kind of side ways now and then almost to the sand its eating fine idk I hope it lives any suggestions??

So what about when you quarintine and when there at the lfs in a 10g space its only for maybe another month till I finish the 75 think it'll be ok I'm trying to catch it as I think the black ich might be in the gills

If the fish indeed has black ich, prazipro should clear it up. When I qt tangs, they are in relatively small spaces for at least 8 weeks, and I rarely see them act this way. Does he have PVC hiding places? Is the tank in a low traffic area of the house?

Welcome aboard, Man...

The tang may be fighting it's reflection in the glass. Mine does this in my 225g...

FWIW: I'd set that 75g up as a sump for a bigger tank. That tang will outgrow that 75g very soon. Mine uses every inch of my 225g. It doesn't venture off of the rocks, or the very bottom of the tank often, but that 6 feet at the bottom gets used very heavily by my yellow tang...

Best of luck!!!

How long has the yellow tang been in the 36? One that small should be fine in a 36 for months. It sounds like your fish is fighting with its reflection on the glass. You might try adjusting the lights on or outside the tank to see it it helps.

Make sure to feed it plenty of green food (nori, algae flakes, etc.). If the fish has black ich, you should treat it.
