My yellow tang has started to nip at the silicone in the corners of my tank. He his well fed, receiving 2 feedings a day. I feed him a variety of food such as spectrum pellets, formula 2, mysis shrimp, ocean nutrition spirulina formula and he grazes on the algae on my live rock. Is this a harmless action? Or will he actually be able to rip of the silicone and cause a leak?

He could rip the silicon, but I doubt it. He is most likely eating algae accumulation on the aquarium.

You might want to include a clip of Nori or kelp to take his mind of the other.

try seaweek soaked in garlic or some other appetite stimulant.
when I put seaweed in my tank, I soak it in garlicgard and reef plus.
I would continue to try and get his mind off of eating the silicone, its a habit that you would want to actively try to break.
