Yellow Tang Twitches???

so I have a new yellow tang in QT. Just noticed he occasionally will twitch a couple times for lack of better terminology... what is this about? is this normal ?

EDIT: Just noticed a slight cloudiness to the bottom of one of his eyes... sounds like some sort of parasite affecting gills and eye? would this be flukes or something else

You could do a freshwater dip. You would be able to see the flukes in the container after the dip. Then you would know for sure.

It certainly may well be flukes. Depending upon the type of 'twitch', it could also be an aggression response. I have had tang do this in QT when seeing their reflection in the glass.

+1 this could also be it. They are distinctly different "twitches"

My yellow tang acted like this when I first got him and then got the cloudy eye, it was flukes, treated with Prazipro for a couple rounds and he is fine now. It makes it easier if you can get him into a QT tank to treat, but if not the Prazi is reef safe except for worms/dusters, the thing is you have to turn off your carbon and skimmer for the whole tx time which is a pain.

dosed with prazi last night.. his eye is perfectly clear of the white/cloudiness that was there so that's great... however i've noticed now on his front fins some partially white/semi opaque spots .. would prazi make flukes visible to some degree or is this something else entirely?

I also have not seen him twitch at all today since dosing with the prazi... seems to have helped quite a bit in a short time which i'm shocked by... just worried about the front fins at this point as to what it may be

Are they all the same size? Pics would help. That almost sounds like lymphocytosis.

The flukes I have seen are small and were never visible to me on the fish. I got 15 off of one small fish with a FW dip and couldn't believe they weren't visible before treatment.
