Yellow tangs

I've seen it before but was wondering if they could be kept in a 40 breeder, this is strictly out of curiosity I have no intentions of keeping them in anything shorter than 4 feet but a qt or temp tank would have to be smaller

They will go stir crazy if this is long term, yellow tangs can already be aggressive at times, keeping them in a confined in a small area raises aggression levels.

You can keep a yellow tang in a 40g as a QT and have no issues. I QTed my Achilles tang in a 10g with a HOB filter and the fish was fine. Short term you will have no issues

I have, through trial and error, arrived at a 30 gal as my ideal QT tank. You certainly can go with a 10, but I had problems with bigger, more active fish. I found no additional benefit to a 40, but bigger certainly cannot hurt.

Totally misunderstood the question, as a QT that would be fine.
