Yellow watchman not pairing with tiger pistol shrimp

Hey guys,

I've had a yellow watchman for about 3 years now. I was able to get him to pair up right away with a tiger pistol shrimp a couple years back and they were best of buds. Unfortunately the pistol didn't survive the tank move so my watchman has been shrimpless for about a year. I bought him a new tiger pistol the same size as the last one about a month ago. I have yet to see the shrimp since I put him in the tank, yet I know he's alive because I can hear him.

My question is should I by another pistol? Should I try another species? Should I just wait?

TIA, Nick

I'd wait it out. Perhaps they've paired and the shrimp is bashful.

I have had a YWG in with my bullseye for over 3 months and they just ignore one another even when they bump into each other during feeding time.

I don't think a bulleye a natural pair to a YWG. From what I've read tigers are the "natural" choice. Has anyone paired any other species of pistols with YWGs?

my YWG and pistol don't pay any attention to each other. i gave up trying after a while. interestingly though, the pistol shrimp paired up with my anemone, and recently it's been on the move, and the pistol shrimp moves along with it-stirring up sand the whole time.
