Yet more updates and a question

Added a gravity fed top off system today. Found a compact 5.2 gallon trash can at Wal-Mart. Hate having it out in the open, but nothing else will fit under the tank.







I also have a question for everyone. Do you think it's ok to remove this part off the tank? I think it's only there to support a tank cover, which I don't use. It is directly under the 250 watt MH. That piece gets really hot and casts a shadow right down the middle of the tank. I'd like to cut it out. Thoughts?

I would not remove the center brace, it acts as a well brace for the middle of the tank and deflects any bowing.

I completely agree with this.

That being said, I cut a center brace on one of my tanks. It is only a 3' tank though. I wouldn't do it on a main display though.

Definitely do not cut that brace.
