Yodle Pico

Sure, the tank is a 5.5 gal Ecoxotic Eco-Pico

Lighting: 3 lamps and 9 LED strips from Ecoxotic

Stock Filter: removed the filter floss and replaced with a bag of Phosguard.

No skimmer, because there is no room. I don't need it anyways the bio load isn't that big. The biggest thing I hear from Pico reefers are problems with evaporation. Well the tank comes with a glass lid, so I can go up to 10 days without topping it off, never knew it was slow until I went home for the Thanksgiving holiday. I like this, because my parameters stay more stable with a slower evaporation rate. I feed my mandarin and pipefish live food to offset the absence of a skimmer. That way there's never any left over food to rot away. Anything uneaten just carries on as life in the Pico.

I'm just keeping it simple, no extravagant blueprints nor high end equipment. Just the skill of the reef keeper.

I just ordered a Koralia Nano for more flow and I think I'll eventually add a JBJ 1/15th chiller, since this is Texas, but for now the temp maxes out at 77 degrees and drops to 76 when the lights are off. There's a small tetra heater in there. Other than that I manual dose 2 part. I appreciate all the views and interest in my tank. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on the progress. Any and all questions are welcome. ~ Wes

The fish in my pics is a blue striped pipefish. He's always on the hunt for critters. He was just sitting at the LFS for several weeks. I guess nobody wanted him because they just disappear in large tanks. This little guy has lots of personality and the tank wouldn't be the same without him.

Have you done any par readings? I have one of those strips in my fluval edge. How long have yoi had your setup running? If your 9 strips can sustain sps then i might add a few more strips to my tank!
