You GOTTA see these crazy Acros!

No reserve on anything..I have gotten a few pieces for 2-3 bucks..also if you lose a bid and really want the piece he will generally have one he will sell you and at an average price for that piece of what others have sold at that evening..(hope that makes sense)

Thanks.....hey this guy gonna be at the LEER thing this Sat?
How bout you Ohiomom?

I did buy few frags from him once. the acros were like on the pics but the acan was terribly cut and it took about two months for it to recover (and its still very small)

BTW the frags are tiny!!! I just don't get people that pay $60-130 for a 1in frag!!!! so how much is the colony, $1000?????

I can buy a nice colony 5x4in for a $120, i just don't see myself paying for a tiny frag more than $20. Just my opinion, and knowing how sensitive people are here, hopefully i didnt insult anybody :)

I agree...I didn't want to bash any fellow hobbyist, but I sorta think some people sell some pretty small frags; God Bless em tho...
...just thinking as a consumer I'd rather pay almost double for one twice as big ...

I got some pretty nice frags from some locals...all healthy, just a lil on the small side

A few of the frags I have got from Gary were small. But all his pictures are taken over egg crate and we are all very familiar with the size of that so there really shouldn't be any surprises. All of the acros I got from him were either at least 1" or had multiple branches.

No Gary from Reef pets will not be at the LEAR swap on Saturday. He burnt a few bridges with some of the guys and was banned from our forum also. I bought a few things awhile back and everything had nice color when I picked it up. Everything is doing good except for a little clam I got from him die after about 3 weeks but clams can be hit or miss and the price was cheap for the colors on it was just small. I would buy from him again just would really like to see his setup like everyone else. Must say I really like his packing system though. On that note I hope to see everyone saturday at the swap, just wait and see what the corals from some of these vendors corals look like. Some of these vendors haven't done a swap here before or not for a really long time. Wait till you see some of jason fox's stuff. See ya all Saturday..........

Why do you need to see someone elses acro to believe it? The guy has over 3000 sales on ebay with 99.3% positive feedback. That seems like happy customers to me. Also he has a thread on the "other" forum that apparently can not be mentioned (RC censored me) with plenty of happy customers.

I got acans and zoas from them and they were exactly as pictured in the listing. So he only changes the blue values and manipulates pictures when its acros but not other corals? How does that make sense? I just think some of you guys have some personal grudge and will do anything to discredit him or his photos. Playgrounds can be vicious beware of the mean kids.

Laugh your sig says nork president...explain?

Haha. Well since C-SEA wanted a little too much control over the reef club forum on RC they decided it would be best to disassociate the forum from C-SEA. RC then gave the forum a generic name, Northern Ohio Reef Keepers. I decided to use the acronym NORK and elect myself president. So far we only have one member, but I hope to do some recruiting at the Frag Fest.

Kreeger1 why so curious...explain?

I didn't say customers:D

I'm sure he can show a person around that's in for a tour, or a club associate, ect. to promote his business.

There could be a logical explanation..................but when I see pictures like that it makes me want to stay away.

I guess the best way to solve these concerns is for someone locally to nab these corals & take pics from their tank or allow someone to see the corals in person.

I'd love to be wrong

I guess some of your reasoning could be true, after more thought. If someone bought any of these corals on this forum, I would be curious to see how they look in your tank. The first pic and the blue saturation look definitely makes me question some of these! hmmmm I don't think that's really fair to make a coral appear better than it truly is. Like false advertisement! I know someone would like to show one of these off if they got it and it looked as nice as it does in the photos, so post it up when you get it if you'd like!

Why do you need to see someone elses acro to believe it?

If this is directed at me.................

Why? Because I thought this thread was about those acros pictured with pschyidelic colors.......... which are not believeable unless I put a black light under my hood.

Why do I need to see other acros?...............

Because I'm in the market for few brightly colored acros & am willing to pay a premium. I'd like to see the Reef Pet picture compared to what it actually looks like in person or compared to a legit photo. These request threads pop up all the time in the SPS section of RC, so people have a better idea of what
the coral looks like under normal dispay conditions.

Why don't acans, zoas, mushrooms count?

Because I'm not in the market for those & those pictures aren't in question in this thread. Did you pay over $100 for one polyp for any of your corals from him?

That's what eye popping acros will command in price............at least $100 for an inch. If I spent $100+ for that purple/green tip frag & got something like this picture from him.......... freshly cut less than 1" sliver, & pasted to a plug, I'd be extremely disappointed with no re-course.

This is worth about $20 at most for an inch & easily attainable, if you hunt around. You yourself posted an Aussie look a like colony for $120. These come in all the time & look like this picture.

The guy is invisible, has no guarantee past live arrival, he's already gotten kicked off RC & has a bad rep with LEAR, yet I'm supposed to accept him as a trusted vendor? There are too many other options available to me without that kind of risk.

I'm just stating my opinion based on what I have read & seen...........I need more info to convince me to give him my money..........I have nothing against him.
If you got some corals & got a deal because they were sold auction style, & your happy, that's great.

I think the better question here is why you are being so defensive when people are questioning the authenticity of a potential $100+ investment for a 1" frag. Editing color levels in the photos and then refusing to let anyone see your operation doesn't make anyone look legitimate no matter how nice they are. Add it to the fact that no one has posted pics of their purchases under "normal" tank lighting and you wonder why people are hesitant? At that price point I dont expect anyone to take you at your word.

If he runs a chop shop, whatever. I don't think anyone cares whether he does or not. People are curious about the nature of the operation and trying to be on the down low about it looks bad with no explanation. At least call a spade a spade instead of trying to make people out as bullies for being skeptical.

I bought the same coral from Tidal Gardens at the swap for 30 bucks and it does look just like that picture...not as purple but pretty darn close.
