Your Most Wanted

Hello all. I always play this game with myself and say if I could have fish I wanted and didn't have to worry about price or locating it, what would I get. The answer is everything!!! So then I try and narrow it down. So i ask you guys to do the same for your top three most wanted if money wasn't an issue and you could get it instantly. So list them if you can with 3rd being the lowest and first being the pinnacle. Also add if you plan on getting the fish and why you haven't gotten it already. Also adding a picture of the fish would be great as well. I would like to hear from others before I add my two cents. Come on it's always nice to dream!!! Regards, Tim

1. Bandit angelfish - Apolemichthys arcuatus - cant justify spending that much on fish that might not eat -

2. Joculator angel pair - Centropyge joculator - too much money -

dflad. I don't know much about Choat's Wrasse. Do know any specifics about the fish? Are they expensive? where do they come from? Though not that expensive I really love the potter's wrassse. Regards, Tim

Choat's are usually not very expensive just rarely available. Like most Leopards, many are lost from collection to retail.
I saw a pair a few months ago and they were $200 for the pair.

Nothing to fancy here and I will have them all at some point

1 Crosshatch pair
2 queen angel
3 humu trigger

I am going to try all three at some point just have to prepare myself for the possibility of carnage on the corals. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the fish I have.

1) 2 tiny interruptus
2) 2 tiny debelius
3) harem earlei fairies
4) candy basslet (L. carmabi - which may come true!!)
5) sunset hog from Hawaii (gorgeous - hands down the coolest fish i have seen)

couple more.... :)

1. Candy Basslet 2. Linneatus Wrasse 3. Crosshatch Pair

I've Never seen the candy basslet for sale and the others are too expensive IMO plus I don't have the room for the triggers.

  • Centropyge interruptus/C. debelius
  • C. nahackyi
  • C. boylei

copps is slowly turning me into an angelfish nut. :<

Hey Zemeron. Not familiar with Earlei wrasses. Do you have a pic? The sunset hog doesn't do much for except for the "rare" factor and they are EXPENSIVE. I was told by a dealer one was available for like 2000.00 wholesale!!!! Is that about right Zem? I have to agree with the carnabi. That is an amzing looking fish and hardy as can be if you can get a well acclimated one.

Chilbis, Copps knowledge makes anyone who likes fish an angelfish lover. i would love to see him top 3 dream fish. I would think Personatus, Narcosis, and Teckeuchi (sp.) would be on his list.

Here is Personatus that is triggerfish.

Copps what are your most wanted??? Tim

1: Interruptus Angel

2: An All Blue Adult Queen Angel

3: Centropyge resplendens

Love the angels. Too bad they can not be fully trusted with reefs.

Being still new I haven't even heard of most of the fish everyone is wanting. I really only have two.
Achilles Tang - paid for one but before the store would release it it died. Found another but it died the morning I was going to pick it up. Not so sure I want to try a third time poor things, but really beautiful. My next would be a Black Tang, saw a gorgeous one in a LFS but out of my price range. :)

Hey Coral C's,

On the tour at Fosters and Smith coral facility last weekend, they had a dinner plate size black tang in one of their LPS grow-out tanks. It was very cool.
They had quite a few potters angels in some of their coral grow out tanks also. I thought this was a little being maybe not 100% reef safe.

The only reason they are rare is because of their limited distribution. THey come almost exclusively from australia, so the shipments are few and far between. Couple that with difficulty in handling associated with all leopards and they are a once a year thing. I saw one last year, but acted too late. They usually run singly in the 70-100$ range. Once acquired, chances of survival is also low, like most leopards they are not that hardy.

The potters is most likely the least hardy of the bunch, hardest to acclimate, but blue zoo aquatics gets them in quite regularly.

Mine would be Koi Tang, Gem Tang, and Japanese Longfin Anthias. Why I haven't I got them to expensive for me. But it is nice to dream. :)
