Your opinion on tangs

I didn't get that either ..... ?

I tend to think of tangs as needing an experienced hand. Probably the zebrasomas are the easiest, though they can be aggressive and Sailfins particularly get too large for most tanks.

I have a mimic in a 90, he's only been in there a few weeks. He seems happy, a bit more a prancer than an end to end swimmer. They grow super slow, I've seen the one at the lfs for 3 years in a 450g and he hasn't grown a lick and he's grazing constantly with plenty to eat.

Hawaiian or Florida collected. Collection practices are better than most locations, plus shipping times are much shorter.

Hardiest is the question, not which does best in a small tank. Naso's are pretty hardy if you have a 1000 gallons. Hepatus are hardy once acclimated. Pretty much anything other than Acanthus species are hardier.

Kinda amazing how some people see the word "tang" in a post and just knee-jerk a "tank too small!" reply. He asked which is the hardiest...not which is the hardest.

yeah this is the worse forum for it too.

sometimes the right advice isn't what a person wants to hear.
the fact that so many respond negatively goes to show how sensitive this species can be to feeling confined and lashing out either physically or immunologically.

I get that you misread the post. It is after all only one letter difference. I'm just commenting on the general state of the community, not attacking you personally.

It's not about what someone wants or does not want to hear but rather the manor it's said to them which is then followed by a pitch fork and mob mentality that jumps on the band wagon. Compared to other forums when people have asked about tangs, people answer the question and if if the question is related to tank size, it comes across less patronising or aggressive.

Just my observation, but I find tangs pretty boring and the best fish I find are the smaller ones.
