So I'm getting my first 3 ricordea yuma heads in a couple days. I want to get them all on one rock. I've got a place to put it in the tank, but is it best to get them on a larger rock to start, give them room to grow?

Under the right conditions, they will split and fill a rock up quite quickly. Acclimate them on the bottom of your aquarium. if you want to remove them from a rock, use a dremel with a diamond blade and cut the rock out from under the coral. Use super glue gel to attach the frag onto the rock you desire.

Just to warn you these are the most ...alarming..corals I own. They were among my first, still fairly new to reefkeeping, but I have no other corals that act up and do strange things like my ric's do.

Expect them to stretch, and scrunch, and all sorts of other things. You'll learn this is how they move around, use the currents and drop babies. I notice mine using the current to pull himself up and over so he can slide his foot over easily.

Really freaked me out when I first saw mine stretched 4" across the rock and poofed up hanging in the current. Now she's busy crawling down the side of the rock - into a crevice. She's averaging about 1 baby per month. All growing rapidly.

So my advice here is understand they will act a little odd when they reproduce. I was really freaking out thinking mine was suffering in a bad location. The truth was the exact opposite - she loves it there. And don't put them on any base or important rocks. Keep them on a separate rock island. Or at least a rock you can move around and frag pieces off of.

Yeah my yumas are all going through some fluctuations. Sometimes they look great, sometimes, not so much.... However my florida (only have one, for about 2 weeks now) its doing great. I bought it with 3 small heads, now theres three and a half (lol) and one is talking a walk down the side of the rock I have it on.... kinda separating. I love it. I think I'm going to stick to florida ricordeas.... The yuma's look and are acting, way too sensitive.... Maybe its because they are new, I'm not sure, I just love my little florida...

We'll see how it goes...
