Zack's 120 gallon sps build

I think yes. Absolutely.
The more point sources of light, the better for spreading the light around and reducing shading and dim areas..

Yep!
Run them perpendicular to the long edges of the tank:

Awesome coverage!!

Ok, so it's pretty serious coverage. Maybe a bit over kill..
I had 3 mitras over a 52 inch length. I know it's 10 inches longer, but..
It seems that most (most, not all) people who have great success with leds, seem to have more than the manufacturer's recommendation...
I'm definitely in the more light spread out over the tank means better coverage camp..
I'd rather have too much and be able to turn it down than not have enough or just enough and not have anywhere to go...

Exactly as Matt says; run them in | | | | configuration. Not overkill to use 4; I will be using THREE over my 30" tank (thats length!) so 1 radion for each 10 inches...not the 24 inches quoted by the manufacturer. Just pick up a use Gen 2 Pro or Gen 3 Pro for a little more.

My buddy has a Giesemann tank which is exactly your tank dimensions...his SPS colours are very nice under the Radions, but I've measured the PAR levels and I know he needs another unit.

The 24inch area is fine for mixed reefs/LPS/Zoa tanks.

Sahin..... Get a bigger tank

I am going to be using 4 AI hydra 52's on my 120. I use 2 on my 60 cube. To spread the cost you could start with 2 and add a 3rd or 4th as things grow in. Just plan for the additional units when building your light rack. You can also help yourself out on the shading issues by keeping the aquascape on the flatter side.

Crazy.. Well, look on the bright side.. The $ is supposed to go lower so you saved yourself a few..

Yeah it's going to get worse for us. Whatever though. If it was equal I would of purchased a giesemann spectra lol. Nice thing about LEDs for now is that I don't have to worry about bulb changes. If I have them for an entire year and they're still giving me a hard time I'm going to add 2 metal halides haha

Overdue update!!

Overdue update!!

Sorry for the late update... you know... for some reason my wife thinks that fixing the house and making sure we have heat and running water is more important than spending an endless amount of money on a glass box filled with water and electricity.

but anyway. dry wall is done and fish room is almost finished. was up until 3:30 AM last night doing the plumbing. still didn't finish but almost.

finished the drywall job around the tank itself, just need to add the trim to the tank

electrical is almost done as well

Looking really good.
Coming along nicely..
Tell your wife to put on a sweater and buy some bottled water! :)

So great news... No leaks... Bad news is my sicce 5.0 is seriously lacking.... Like big time... The pump isn't far from the exit probably like 9 or 10 feet of pipe.
