Zebra Barred Dartfish

[Reefing Newbie]

What are your experiences with keeping these fish? I like them and think a trio would be cool to have in my 125 gallon tank. Where do they tend to hang out, by the rock or open water? I only ask because I feel my current stock list has too many open water fish and fewer rock dwellers. If they aren't rock dwellers, do you guys have any ideas on what stays by the rock and will fit in with this crowd? Will they get along with the other fish listed? TIA!!

i have an orchid dottyback that is a cave dweller and lots of fun to watch. if you have good caves in your rock you might like him. he's active but cautious.

I started out with 6 being one of my first fish and they would be skittish but you would see them. As I continued stocking now down to 3 - 2 years later and they never come out except at feeding time.190G DT /w 450G in whole system:

With your wrasses, I doubt that you'll ever see them. I never saw any aggression toward them. I think that they are so skittish that other fish just send them into hiding.

They are neat fish, very cautious though. I had three in a 150 gallon, and would see them pretty regularly. Unfortunately, 2 of the three jumped through the 1/4" mesh tops on my tank to their death, and the third just mysteriously disappeared. Never found it.

I have 4 in a 120. As mentioned they tend to be a little skittish. Of my 4, one keeps jumping into the overflow box. I "saved" it once (took about an hour to get out...not an easy task due to the drain piping) and then the next day it was right back in there, so it now lives in the overflow box.

Of the three in the display, one stays out in the open more than the other two. When you approach the tank, it darts right into hiding with the others. If I stay in front of the tank it will make its way back out, but any sudden movement it goes back into the rock work. They also dig in the sand and live kind of under the rock work.

All three will come out during feeding time and eat just about anything. Overall I'm happy with them and would probably get them again if I was redoing things. They do jump, so I have mesh netting to keep them in and so far have not had any issue with jumping (besides the one going into the overflow).
