Zebrasoma Tangs and Sea Grasses?

Has anyone kept a Zebrasoma Tang with Halodule sucessfully? Of course, I keep a Ctenochaetus in my seagrass system with no problems, but I'm wondering if anyone keeps a Zebrasoma in a seagrass system without issues.

I'm suspecting that a Zebrasoma would munch on the new shoots as they emerge from the substrate, but I'm curious to hear if anyone has managed to keep the two together?

No personal experience with Zebrasoma, but the only Tangs I would trust with seagrasses would be members of the Ctenochaetus family.

That was my thinking, too. My Tomini Tang has been a perfect gentleman(woman?) in my system, and I have this nagging vision of a Zebrasoma mowing down my Halodule!

My Striated Tang has been a model citizen in my seagrass tank.

I cant recall testing any Zebrasoma's with seagrasses before. Maybe you could pry up a few plants and place them in the quarantine system after acquiring the fish and see what happens? Then again, you'd have to re-home the fish if he does munch the seagrass. And.. there's no guarantee he won't take to eating it later in life.

My thinking is that Halodule is about the same "texture-wise" as Gracilaria, which, of ocurse, they love! Should be an interesting experiment!

It will be eaten. I had started a seagrass tank a couple of years ago. Because of issues with fish I ended up having to move my yellow tang into the seagrass tank. Didn't take long for the shoal grass to be ripped up and eaten. I swear she was burping afterwards saying "thanks mom!"
