ZeeSparrow's 75G LPS tank build

Local club tank tour and BBQ was loads of fun. I got to see half a dozen or so members' tanks all around town, visit the LFS and hang out chatting about reefing while enjoying good food and company. I won a few things from the raffle too - mainly food for coral and fish. :)

Otherwise there isn't much new to report. I had turned off GFO to test a theory - and didn't do water changes during that time either. I've since resumed both. Everything is in what I hope to be its "final" location in the tank, with lights and flow set so all is well.

Here's a couple shots of the euphyllia, including a close-up of the frogspawn which seems to be reproducing in every way possible.

And a recent FTS. Little dark but I'm still working on the camera skills.

Thanks. I have a bit of cyano and GHA but I am trying to be patient and let things run their course. Although I am using manual removal as l can to help. Have to keep up proper husbandry!

You could join the club and maybe make it to some meetings, and the BBQ next year.

Not a bad plan, msg me the details would you.

So I did not do water changes or run GFO for one month. Not the best approach. lol Not TOO bad, but ... a little out of control. My last water change was 8/23... one week later, here is what one area looked like:

So I turned off the lights for 3 days, in order to get a bit of a head start on cleanup. Here's a pic from tonight.

Tomorrow, blue lights only. Sunday, I'll scrub, siphon and do a 30G WC.

In the meantime, new tenants have started TTM.

I've also discovered that I have a bit of aiptasia here and there. My husband has always wanted more shrimp... so tomorrow, a few peppermints will be added. Hopefully one of them has a taste for them. :)

I think things are coming along beautifully! I can't wait to see those two guys enjoying your rock work! I'm eyeballing a pair of black ocellaris for mine.

Thanks. Yeah, I like the black and whites too. But I decided I just wanted two little guys and held out until they were available at Aquarium Solutions. I visited with Barbie once a week for a month!! I'm going to hit Aquatic Dreams up for the pepps tomorrow.

Sweet! While your there tell them to he the black pair for me if they still have them [emoji3]

I wouldn't worry about the algae at all. Mine looks very similar and goes through phases. I kind of like it because I have a lawnmower blenny, CUC and now a Coral Beauty, so I want some algae growth.

You just don't want it getting long and stringy and it looks great right now. Cool Clowns.

Oh not worried. Just have to continue to practice good reef keeping skills which means for me... Testing dosing and water changes with some manual removal.

Just bought an apex too. Looking forward to setting that up!

I love my APEX and it's mostly just running my planted tank! Eventually I'll get the extra bits to have it running both.

Yep, I'm just starting with the basic system, though I'm sure I'll be adding modules later. What do you have it doing on your planted tank? I know your system is a lot more complicated than mine (55g artificially decorated "community").

I have 6x54w HO T5 lights coming on at different times and for different periods, along with heat of course. PH is monitored and operates my injected CO2. And that's about it... Everything else in there is on constantly.
