Zeovit users - show us your results

This FTS is on the zeo system, but the tank is all in a holding tank for now, I am in the process of a move, the aquascaping and some other changes will be implemented to better suit zeovit. My tank will be down until mid April, so I will post up some new pics next month.
Thanks,

Makes sense to me FFrankie...
But there is a large portion of hobbyists (mabye the majority?) that believe we need to keep our levels elevated aboved NSW.
One can easily reason that our tanks are not exact copies of a complete biotope - such as the ocean and all of the the contributory habitats....

Started off with livesand, and my liverock was covered in red turf, bubble algae, macro algae, and eventually cyano set in. The new structure will be with "reefflakes" sand, only 1/2-1", no more. I removed the liverock, soaked in bleach, then 2 dips of muriatic acid, then soaked in RO/DI for 3 days, sundried for 2 days, now in bath of saltwater with fresh liverock seeding this dead rock. Also running a skimmer to pull out any additional nasties. My corals are all in a holding tank where they have gone through a series of dips to ensure no pests come over. I have lost 4 corals, but no worries, I will be looking for this tank to house less larger sized corals giving a very open-scaped appearance. I am excited about the new setup, more to come later....

So - is the picture above before - or after you started with Zeo? And - when did the algaes come about? Any connection betweenteh algae growth and Zeovit?

That pic was from about a month ago, running zeovit. The algaes were prior to running the system, but the algaes did occur under running ULNS. All algaes were ones that do well in nutrient poor conditions. My hopes were for Zeovit to ultimately drive all those nasties out, which I feel would eventually have happened, but given the fact I am faced with a move and breaking the tank down, I want to start things off as zeo friendly as possible... This means fresh rock as well as dead sand that has been well rinsed in RO/DI water. Thoughts are that if I begin this way, no algaes, then less likely to have binded nutrients, thus allowing for zeo to keep nutrients too for them to establish themselves in the tank.
Regards,

2 months of zeovit usage in my tank brought about these colour changes.

Ignore the algae growth. I overdosed some sup's the week before :S

I'm far from ULNS yet, but I'm at a nutrient level that for me was never achieveable before using zeovit.
I'd tried vodka, dsb's, macroalgae refugiums, more frequent larger water changes, but zeovit has been the easiest and the most effective nutrient control method for me.

teesquare: I changed to a new set of syringes (worn markings on the old ones)
and for a week or so i was accidentally dosing 3ml of zeostart2 instead of 0.3ml.

Coupled this with a major lighting overhaul the same week, and the result was a massive algae outbreak.

Stopped dosing start2 for a week, manual algae removal and it disappeared :D

The old "bulb change blues"...I know that song!:spin3:

So the combination of excess nutrients and the new bulbs allowed opportunistic algaes ( ain't they all!) to grow.I cringe when I change bulbs, because we never can know ALL of the impact that makes.

Thanks for the addtional info, and we look forward to seein your new tank pics as well.
