madadi,
It's not very accurate, I wouldnt waste your money on it. Also, Iodine is very difficult to test for...I'd ask Randy his opinion on which kits, if any, are worth while.
I have the salifert iodine kit. Another crappy kit thats hard to interpret.
Mesocosm has stated that he doesnt have allot of faith in the K+ test kits
I read somewhere that iodide "when overdosed" will darken the pocolpora corals very quickly. Most people use this as a gauge to determine dosage amounts.
If potassium is OD'd yellow acros shimer green.
OK an update on my tank.
I have some major growth going on !!!!
In one day I have 1/8 tips on a few corals. And the color of the tips are a color that these corals have never shown before.
If i get a chance tomorrow, I'll snap some picks. Then in a few days take a few more to show the growth im getting.
I slightly modified my dosing (after reading some threads)
VSV 1 ml per day---- this was dropped from 5ml per day----- I might have to increase this if algae returns.
5 drops of zeovit AA's twice a day ---- only suppose to be once per day
---- I felt the worst that can happen is an algae bloom. I felt the corals were starving. remember ive been low nutrient for over a month and havent feed or dosed anything.
So the result is a brown algae on the glass every day. I can live with that. The results have been very impressive.
1 drop of lugols iodine
5 ml brightwell Iron
Brightwell Aquatics Zooplanktōs-M 500 - 1,000µm (1mm)
This is a medium sized zooplankton around $5 a bottle.
They suggest no more then 25 ml for my sized tank per day
yeah I tripled that
I target fed all acros and montis 3 times a day.
Like I said these corals were starving. And their response to the feedings seems to suggest they appreciate it.
Oh and im feeding fish every couple hours. Or just about eveytime i walk past the tank
again their has been more algae on the glass but no other signs of algae. Im not sure ill be able to keep this up... time will tell.
