Neozeo

Brightwell's foray into a full blown zeovit type system. The rock looks to cost about half the price of the other lith products. With Biofuel,Microbactor, Potassion and the new rock, he has a pretty complete system. Getting good results with the Reefbiofuel!

I have been using BAs Microbacter7, Biofuel and Pottassion for about 2 1/2 weeks now. Ill use Koralcolor whne im at the 4th week of dosing. So far so good. But Im also dosing way lower than the recommended dosage on the bottle. Doesnt seem they have Neozeo on their website yet.

Hi Everyone

I am trying the modified Zeo method - matrix/vodka/stabilty

I just bought the KZ potassium test kit and it is very hard to read

Any pointers? A thread with detailed instructions?

Also seems that the level is < 300. I have the KCL powder from iHerb and I am starting to add I tbspn/day

Any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks

For me to understand what correct levels looked like, I ended up doing a reference test using NSW. IMO, a reading under the test vial should look like what the color strip looks like at about 270, without anything on top of it.

It's different, it's why zeolithe are a good media to cultivate bacteria :)

I think the people here, using matrix, have a good argument for matrix being a good media for cultivating bacteria also. :)

Ive been waiting on a friend to take pictures of my tank. I think the coral colors are excellent. But ill let the pictures speak for themselves.
I use zeo AA's but none of the other zeo products.

Maybe im dosing too much Reefbiofuel? I keep getting a black film on the sand that disappears when I go back to dosing straight vodka.

I may have been premature in judging the koralcolor. The last week the colors have been off the chart. I still dose zeo AA's so i cant be certain which product to credit. But at this point i dont want to change the dosing schedule.

dont get me wrong... i know some amazing sps tanks in europe that are still running bioballs. they just went out of fashion here because people where having problems maintaing a steady environment. the bioballs got the blame.

I know people who are using matrix in Sulfur Denitrator reators to reduce the amount of sulfur they are using as surface area who are having fanstastic results with it. Is not the principle of the Zeolith system to have an area to cultivate bacteria on and then expose them to anaerobic conditions to stimulate and bloom and the them the uptake of Nitrates?

Is there any reason/benefit to cycle flow to the matrix to enhance the anaerobic bacterial growth - or does the pore structure of the matrix itself facilitate anaerobic bacterial growth

Thanks

I think there is more surface area with this and that is why you get a higher load of anaerobics growing during the off phase in the reactor.

No need to cycle the reactor.
The pore structure in conjunction with the aerobic bacteria that coat the outside provide the prefect home for the anaerobes.

the properties and process matrix uses sound very much like bioballs to me. how is matrix different?

It's no different I have used ceramic media from eheim in my freshwater tanks for years. Zeoliths are not the same.

Some one mentioned the "off" phase this is only reccomended for new zeo tanks is this something borrowed and adapted to the matrix thing? I am lost As to why people avoid zeoliths when they are so well suited to ULNS systems
