Zeovit

I got my system stabilized & coral grew so much calcium & alkalinity dropped (calcium reactor couldn't keep up) STN started again. I added a second chamber to calcium reactor & got back on track. Only using start 2, extra, & sponge power now.

As if SPS aren't challenging enough I have added a 30g non-photo synthetic tank to my system. So SPS want almost sterile water & NPS wants soup. Still working that balance out, nearly there.

All & all SPS are doing so well I have been trading frags to LFS for food & salt.

For those that are running Zeo with very good success, what kind os skimmer are you using?

Reason I ask is it is advised not to run a needle wheel/pinwheel skimmer with zeo. Instead, use a becket or venturi type skimmer.

I have an ATB 840 v2.0 that I'm contemplating selling and purchasing a KZ small revolution skimmer if it will work better, produce better results, with the zeo system.

I been running Zeo two years now and been happy using ATB skimmers all the while. Recently I traded one of my ATB's for a KZ medium skimmer. The first thing I noticed is increased polyp extension. I used to clean my panes every 4 days. I now can go 5 -6 days. I was surprised how much this skimmer pulls out and it's darker/ smellier. I am on two weeks now and starting to notice a slight improvement in colors.

I have a similar situation, I have one blue stage that is very blue all the rest of blue corals are disappointing. I got a frag from a local reefer that was almost completely blue, but in my tank only tips are blue. All other colors look good.

I have been using zeo supplements for a few years & found that iodide & potassium play a very important part in blue coloration of sps. Looking at the parameters above I will increase the dosing frequency of jod complex from twice weekly to daily & start dosing more potassium supplement (potassium chloride or zeo K Balance strong) to bring K+ up to 380 ppm.
IMO, the pale montipopra appearance is an indication of K+ deficiency .

I was thinking the same thing. Try bringing K+ up to 380 - 400. In the past every time my montipora was pale in color sure enough K+ was low. This may or may not help with blue coloration.

Potassium-iodide-fluor (kaliumjod-fluor) is the best supplement for blues. I would reduce the amino acid supplement, as they will brown-out corals when ODed. I find half recommended dosage is fine for most tanks. Be careful with just iodide or iron as supplements, as both can darken corals.

As mentioned, your potassium is low, and the Ca+, too.

go to zeovit.com for dosing instructions.. I've done zeo supplements for years. My favorites are Sponge Power and AA's and Pohls extra.

i thought CA=400 is ok for zeovit tank ?

i will start dosing K+ everyday at 4ml . what about the job dosing ?

i change the flow rate of my reactor to turn off every 3 hours

I dose dose SP and Xtra with no issues. Try raising K+,mg and ca some to see if it helps. If you dose Xtra cut back on AA's.

You CAN dose litereally all Zeo products together, the question would be, is that a good idea. The corals, etc. can efficiently use only so much nutrient/supplement at any given time. Extra may cause unwanted effects, such as darkening of the corals via zooxanthellae explosion or bleaching via zooxanthellae reduction. I recommend one starts with just one or two products (other than the basics) to get a feel for what they do and learn to adjust amounts for their particular aquarium. Zeo is not an exact science, there is a lot of 'feel' involved. In general, dose less and slowly increase amounts while noting what events take place.

Calcium should be at 420. 400 is OK, but not optimal and will reduce coral skeletal growth as well as influence the stability of the alk.

Hey chercm I would get a copperbanded butterfly, filefish or Berghia nudibranch to eat the aptasia for you, regardless of sponge power dosing you'll need something to eat them.

i have been getting brown algae with Zeovit . i have been dosing morning CS+bak and evening - ZZ with bm and it did not improve . wat should i do ? can i dose polyp lab with zeovit ?
