Zoa covered with Xenia

Title says it all, I noticed xenia (LR hitchhiker) growing close to the patch, but today it looks like the base has covered the zoa stems and they wont/cant open. I have tried peeling the xenia off, but it just crumbles. I don't really know what to do but try and fluke the xenia... Any ideas?

I would remove the xenia carefully from the polyps with tweezers and make sure the zoas are free from it. If the xenia isn't damaged and you would like to have it you could glue it in a rock, I guess.
It comes down to save the polyps and not to damage them in the first place, if that's what you want to hear. Use round edge tweezers for the job and make sure you've got time, depending on how much you need to remove.

Good luck.

Grandis.
