Zoa Fragging

I know about the palytoxin already. But my question is can you cut single polyps and apply them to a frag disc and the coral still survive?

Yes, the survival rate is much higher is you can keep a small amount of the rock or disk that the base of the zoa is attached to, but if not try your best not to nick or cut the zoa.

Yes, as thegrun said try to keep a little rock under the zoa. If I'm transferring a zoa polyp from one plug to another, I use a scalpel and scrape off a little sliver of plug under the zoa. That way I glue the sliver to the new plug and the zoa is already attached. This makes it easier to attach and more likely the fragged zoa will survive.

they take longer to recover but it's doable. when I frag zoas I wear a mask, eye protection and gloves. i'm not looking to take any chances.

like thegrun said, the survival rate is higher if you can cut some of the rock off with it.
