Zoa Lover Introduction . . .

With hopes of getting someone to say or post something, if you like zoas and palys, introduce yourself and share something. Might start a great discussion which helps everyone. It seems everyone is just looking but not posting. Don't be shy.

Zoas will be my first coral when I decide to venture into the world of corals, which in hoping will be soon. They are easily my favorite coral as of now, although I do like the majority of softies and lps. It's hard for me to choose between acans and zoas, but zoas are currently ahead. I'm excited to get some whenever I get some better lights!

Hey guys. Just had my tank up for about a month. All going pretty smoothly outside a goby not making it. Almost ready for some coral and absolutely starting with zoas. My one complaint about them. Every pic I see of them is zoomed in a ton or on a macro lens. First time I saw some at my LFS I was stunned how small they are. Still colorful but no bigger than a pencil eraser. Very misleading looking at them online or here. I get why, but maybe have a sticky warning us newbies on how small they actually are.

Sounds like a plan. We look forward to hearing more about it in the future.

Hey sounds good. Rome wasn't built in a day....so take your time my friend...you'll get there. This is one hobby you don't want to rush. I coined the phrase " listen to your reef...it will yield the answer and give you direction".

I know what you mean.....it's one of the reasons I personally don't care for pics anymore and I seldom if ever post them......plus all zoas and palys are gorgeous to me. These macro 1 and 2 polyp pics were the exception back in the day......now they are the norm.

I ran across some local newbies recently and showed them some colony pics and they were shocked. They had never seen anything like them before and never knew they existed. They all believed they were removed from the ocean as 1 and 2 polyp frags. True story. Good luck my friend.

PS. Come back and post something and get involved. It's the best way to learn something new and beneficial ok?

Oh don't worry, I'll be sticking around. Really taking my time to make sure nothing goes too poorly. I had wanted to get some corals, mainly Zoas right away, but after the goby from my pistol/goby pair died, I decided to slow things down. Especially with me being really busy the next few weeks I want to wail til there is a week or so I can really focus on putting the frags in the tank and observing them well.

Quick question, just want to make sure my lighting will be sufficient, I believe it will be but better safe than sorry. Its a T5, with one 10k and one blue bulb. Not very far off the water and the tank is only a foot or so deep.
