I am cycling a 3 gallon tank right now that I am going to make all zoas. I was origanally not going to put any kind of live stock in it except a couple snails. I started thinking about adding a couple of sexy shrimp. Are those guys ok with zoas??

Sexy shrimp ARE just fine with zoanthids. Sexy shrimp will not harm them at all. The only thing that sexy shrimp may do to a zoanthid is sit on top of it causing it to close for a short time. No other problems!

Good to know, and do they stay pretty small?? I know to stay away from camal shrimp(they are cool looking). So i just wanted to double check the sexy thing.

I had 4 sexy shrimp in my tank and 1 one of them developed an appetite for Palys. It first started with him on top of frag rack, then the paly skirts started to vanish. Then I caught him red handed right on top of this paly.

I caught him later that week. The other three sexy shrimp had no interest in my palys, but there was one who loved eating them. In the end I think he was bullied by the other three and was not able to scavenge like the others. So when hunger sets in you gotta do something!

I've always wanted to do a genus specific tank, but with zoas, I'm afraid to get infested with nudis or sundials. Are you planning on QTing? I'm just wondering what the process will be - if any- of introduction.

GL and make sure to post updates. :)

I have had the same experience with Sexies. They probably will eventually eat the skirts of your Zoanthids/Palythoa. Not a great choice IME. Maybe try a Porcelain crab or a couple of Pom-Pom's.

All my zoos get dipped before they enter my tank. I'm real picky about it. As far as the sexies go, they wont go in right away if thats what i decide. Ill put my rock work in so its easy to remove in the event i have to take the little guys out. im prolly only going to put 2 in there anyways.
