Zoa peeking out of a Yuma!

Should I leave it be or try and remove it and frag it? It looks nice, not sure what kind it is. Do you guys think the Yuma will harm it?

You can try and make the yuma close up, which would make it easier to frag the zoa off. I would frag that.

The downside is I'm a noob and don't trust my noob hands for such a delicate task. I wonder if a LFS would help me with it. You guys think it's too soon to tell what type of Zoa that is? perhaps even a Paly?

As long as it's not a chain store, they should be able to help you. But that does not mean they will... It should be fine for a little while, a month or so...

Do some reading on how to properly frag, but the basic idea is you would hold the Yuma frag out of water for a few seconds, which should make it reseed enough to expose the zoo polyp. The zoa will also close up. Take a very sharp blade and scrape the zoo off the yumas frag plug. For the best chance of success you should try to cut the plug itself so you don't actually cut the zoa itself. Get a fresh plug put a small dot of gel super glue on it, then using a pair of tweezers place the zoa on the dot of super glue and allow to dry for a few seconds... Dip in a small cup of tank water and then your ready to place it in your tank.

Post a better picture of the zoo, I can't tell what it is...

noob or not you can frag it if you have something that will break a small piece of the rock that the what looks like a paly is attached to, it is fairly simple nothing real delicate about it take some bone cutters or a pair of wire cutter type pliers and break a chunk off...then you will have fragged it

srusso beat me to the punch but it is fairly simple like he said breaking the plug or rock is the best solution

That will also work :lol2:

You don't really even need to attach it to a new frag plug... Just stick it in some place that it will not move and gets the light it needs.

Ok, I'll try to preform the surgery tommorow... Hopefully it all goes well. I'll try to get a better pic of the little guy poking out so we can tell what it is. I hope your right Austinh about it possibly being a Paly, as it will be my first!
