Zoas/Palys and Acros

Is there any reason to believe that zoas/palys release anything in the water detrimental to Acropora (such as leathers do)?

I have always believed that mixed reefs should run carbon at least once every couple months or more frequently in smaller tanks to remove any allelopathic chemicals that might be produced. You can't test for it and these corals normally do not coexist, so err on the side of caution IMO.
