CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY MY ZOOS ALWAYS DIE OFF. I CAN'T EVEN KEEP YELLOW POLYPS. FLAME ANGEL, AND HIPPO TANG MIGHT BE DOING THE DAMAGE NOT SURE THO. ANY WAY TO TELL WITHOUT REMOVING THEM FROM THE TANK. LFS JUST TELL ME THEY REALLY DON'T KNOW. 150 GAL REEF WITH SOME TANGS. 2 400 WATT METAL HALIDES. ALL OTHER CORALS DO GREAT. MUSHROOMS, TORCH CORALS, LEATHERS ECT. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

what do you mean? stop shouting at me!!

Typing with caps means your shouting....But anyways welcome to Reef Central hopefully you can find any info you need.

What kinda lighting you have in this tank. where are the zoas located in the tank.?

Sorry about that shouting. I have 2-400 watt metal halides, four 55 watt pc's. At this time I don't have any zoas at all. Everytime I buy some they only last a few weeks, then die off. I have tried up high and also down low but nothing seems to work. Everything else looks great. Thanks

Try putting a small frag of zoanthids in a containter covered with bridal veil to protect it from the fish. If it lives, then it is probably the fish picking at them. Both are notorious for munching zoanthids and would be my first guess. Also, make sure you are acclimating them to those lights as they can be too bright if the they came from less intense lighting.

I doubt the lights are the culprit. I've never had zoas react badly and have placed plenty within inches of the 400 watters in my 90, and my 75 before my upgrade. I'd figure on the fish, try the mesh.
