nice groath, must be doing something right!!! it's nice when people document the rate in which their corals grow...

i am using a 400 watt single end xm 20k bulb on a magnetic ballast.

i have used the 10k and 20k xm and i really like both. much better color using the 20k. growth rates were about the same using both bulbs but i think i overwhelmed many of my corals with the intensity of the 10k.

As far as color goes, the 20k was far superior to the 10k w/ actinic supplementation. Plus i like the ease of only dealing with one bulb.

i have not liked the look of the 10k or 20k xm bulbs on an e-ballast. i feel that those ballasts do not run the bulbs hot enough. i've heard good things about running a single end on an hqi ballast but i have not seen it.

all in all i think i will most likely stick with the 20k xm, however i do plan to swith to a lumenarc reflector!

Great growth from bulbs that are 'weak' !

Those bulbs have almost as much par as the 10k...I just wish the 250w did also...

yea that id sounds good to me!

Pretty sure mine didn't come from liveaquaria.com though. Its tough to remember where are my corals came from but i think mine is 3rd generation from a wild colony.

Haha :D Im saying! I hope my 'weak' bulbs grow corals that fast! 3 months to catch up :) Looks great broe33...

The 400w XM 20k is an AWESOME bulb. I just wish I could run two of them on my 75g w/out boiling the tank! Those bulbs are the best of both worlds. High PAR (120s) with high kelvin.....My buddy has 4x400w XM 20 on his 240g and his colors are out of this world awesome

I plan to have 3 on my 180 when I upgrade. I really think 2 250's would be better for a 75 then one 400...I had one 400 and my tank looks alot bright with the 2 250's.

That is some stunning growth too by the way...I don't get growth like that. Not even close

ahh...10 months of growth, at a glance I thougt it said 1...I was going to ask you what kind of steriods you were feeding:eek1:

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I too think that 2X250 watt would provide a much more even distribution over a 75 but i didn't have 2x250's but i did have 1x400 so that's what I used.
