1000 Gallon Build- Here we go- Lots of Pictures

Wow, just wow. Everything about this is gorgeous. I love seeing the house build, every bit as much as the tank. Took a bit to read through but glad I did. Certainly going to follow. Good too see you are covering your bases for the eventual transition to a full blown reef, once that bug bites you of course. once those walls are finished and your ready to put some art on them I can recommend some professional framers ;)

If I missed this I apologize but do you have any kind of drain system in the plumbing that runs under the foundation. that is to say if you have a leak in the sump room where does it go. again sorry if I missed the answer.

Sorry, on re-reading, I came across as dismissive, that wasn't my intent. I was just failing to say that in some parts of the country you get more for your money than others.

Your house looks like something I can only dream of, because my wife refuses to move out of the San Francisco Bay Area... At 10,000 sq ft our lot is pretty big for here, but is dwarfed by yours :)

Avidly looking forward to more...

Simon

No worries Simon. I did not take offense at all. In the Bay Area, homes are selling for $800-$1000/ft. Its a crazy market up there. Here in Phoenix, you can buy homes for a lot less. Depending on the area, homes will sell as low as $100/ft. However there are also more expensive areas- especially in Scottsdale. In our neighborhood, homes sell for between $500-$600/ft lately although we have had some sales in the $700/ft range. Not quite Bay Area levels but getting up there.

We built for much less so Im hoping to have some instant equity when we move in.

Great build and beautiful house...........coming along well!

Thank you for following along.

house is looking great! can't wait to see this tank up and running.

Thanks. Im getting impatient as well.

Thanks Droopster. With regards to the plumbing- there are no joints under the slab. Its one continuous line from the tank to the filtration room so this will not lead to any disasters under the slab. We also have big drains right under the tank as well as in the filtration room. God forbid there is a leak in the tank or the sump, all the water will drain away so that it doesnt harm the home. Im hoping that never ever happens.

I think you'll really like the brick once you get all moved in- really create some warmth in the room. Very nice project and house over all. Always fun to get to build your dreams!

Again that house is incredible! Awesome pics. Love following this thread.

Thanks Guy. I've been told that air conditioners are being installed next week which means that wood flooring can go in. That's the final big thing that's left. There is some scaffolding that is going to be removed later this week so I'll get some updated photos.

Hi Chris. You are right. Brick looks great now that it is in. It adds a nice level of cozyness to the home. Pictures at the end of the week.

Lol, frankly I think I'm more interested in the house and what the guy does for a living vs. the reef.. the tank should be epic though

Hopefully the tank lives up to everyones expectations. With regards to what I do for a living, lets just say most would find it very boring. :)

Haha I know im just pulling your chain . Looking forward to it. Sweet house btw, however I'd be adding a putting green[emoji6] . Some great golf in AZ

Not much of a golfer but tons of great golf courses in our neighborhood. Maybe some day when I get more time off from work Ill take up golf. Used to play a ton but not much in the last 10 years or so.

Would love to come see this someday, I live in Tempe

Id love for you to come check it out. Maybe once the home is finished and the tank is up and running I can do a local get together or something. Be honored to have you at our home and check it out.

Amazing house and I am sure will be a magnificent tank

Thanks Kevan for tagging along.

Great build so far. Looking forward to following this one.

Thanks Rust- hope to have some great fish related stuff very soon.

Speaking of which -just got word from Royal Exclusiv that sump and filtration system will be done on Saturday and they will ship from Germany sometime next week which means that I will have possession in about 1.5-2 weeks hopefully.

Plumber is on standby to get all plumbing set up which means that I need to get the rest of the equipment going including live rock and lighting.

Lighting I will be doing Radions most likely maybe supplement with some Kessil cannons.

With regards to live rock- anyone have any experience with the following company. I stumbled upon them in reading the threads here on RC:

http://tbsaltwater.com

They sell a package- roughly 700 bucks for 50 gallons. Ive got over 800 gallons which means close to 6 grand for live rock. Worth it to buy from them or should I stick with my local source?

I have never personably used their product, but I have heard some amazing things from other about their rock!
