Hey socal. Everything is looking stunning. ( as usual). I noticed when choosing your lights you mentioned the words great for corals. Are you doing a reef now ?

Hey yeah!? I thought this was fish only?! You just made this a much more expensive endeavor. :celeb3:Congratulations:celeb3:
Totally worth it BTW.;)

Wow. That sump is massive. Hopefully they finish it soon so I can get mine done. Seeing yours really makes me happy I went with red seems also.

Hi Blue and Dan- at this point Im keeping my options open. I would love to do a full reef but there are too many fish that I enjoy. However Im planning the filtration and lighting as if I was doing a reef. Ill probably find some happy medium but the final contents of the tank TBD.

What ever you do for a living I want in, I work hard so my fish could have a better life. (:

Hi Trevor - they say that if you love what you do for a living, you never have to go to work. While I certainly have my down days at the office, I can tell you that Im blessed to have created a nice niche for myself in my field and more importantly Ive had the opportunity to really work with some really smart people who have greatly influenced my career. The most important influence in my life has been my parents who instilled the ethics of hard work and discipline at a young age and sacrificed a ton so that I could have incredible opportunities in life.

The red seams really pop! I should have delivery of the sump in about 2-3 weeks as its being prepared for shipment from Germany. By then most of the interior of the house should be complete and we can start the plumbing of the system.

Never build a house! Ugggh!! stuff that was supposed to be done last week- delayed till next week. Now other stuff cant be started because the first stuff needs to finish. Contractors on vacation. One guy blames the other guy for not finishing things. Up till now things have been slow and steady. This last bit is killing me. I think its cause we can see the end in sight but we just don't seem to be any closer to the end this last week or so. People told me that the finish work really slows down. Now I know what they are talking about. ugg- sorry. Had to vent. Now if only they would deliver my sump from Germany- it would take some of the pain away. :)

Sorry to hear about the delays! They say that the last 10% of the work takes 90% of the time. It always seems like things come to a crashing halt.

Nice house. I used to be in the building industry so I still take an interest in residential construction. Tagging along.

The definition of reef-jealously, when you look at someones sump and know it looks better than your display tank by leaps and bounds!

Sounds like some quality problems to have! ;)
Nearing the home stretch is always, anxious, and nerve racking!
Something tells me things will be much better in the next few weeks.
Hang in there! (insert kitty poster)

Yes- that is exactly what is happening. The end is so close but we seem to be stuck with not much apparent progress. Truth of the matter is that people are still working every day and we are getting closer. But Im physically and mentally done with this project. I just want to move in. :fun2:

Holy moly! That is a nice set-up and btw nice house as well. Can't wait to see the final set-up.

Thank you. Hoping to get the filtration delivered in the next week or two. Getting close to calling the plumber and having him start plumbing the lines.

Great! welcome aboard.

Here are some updated photos of the finish work being done. Was hoping to be further along but it is what it is. Ill try not to complain too much with the delays:

Brick being installed in the kitchen. My wife freaked out over the color of the grout initially and was ready to have them rip it all out till I talked her off the ledge. I think it looks great as does she once it was all complete.

Beams finally installed in the entry foyer. There are 8 beams total- all stain is complete:

Daughters bathroom:

Great room beams installed and being stained. I like the contrast of the dark beam and the white roof:

Beams and kitchen:

Wide view of the kitchen:

Thats all for now. Next week rest of countertops and cabinet go in. All the baseboards are scheduled to be complete. Paint of the trim starts and finally landscaping. Im hoping for another month of construction but it very well might be another 2 months if we continue at the snails pace that we are going at.

Simon,
the home is in Scottsdale AZ. Its quite a bit bigger than 5000 sq ft. :)

Sorry, on re-reading, I came across as dismissive, that wasn't my intent. I was just failing to say that in some parts of the country you get more for your money than others.

Your house looks like something I can only dream of, because my wife refuses to move out of the San Francisco Bay Area... At 10,000 sq ft our lot is pretty big for here, but is dwarfed by yours :)

Avidly looking forward to more...

Simon
