1000 Gallon Build- Here we go- Lots of Pictures

Your house is okay. Just Standart. When Klaus don't take all my money my two years old house will have your standard [emoji1]

I hope my English is well enough to understand my irony [emoji6]

Your only mistake is that your tank is to small [emoji1]

Ask Klaus about bigger equipment an you can sell half of your house [emoji1]

Congratulations everything is perfect. I will pick up Klaus to visit you.

Question…. If you knew how big your sump was going to be why not have designed a door on the right side of the "closet" so you could easily slide in or slide out the sump? If there is no room on the right side then I completely understand.

Actions like that restore my faith in humanity. Noble work Sir. Beautiful home and great thread.

Thanks Dave. I'm in a fortunate position to be able to give back. My family and I have been blessed. its a privilege to be able to help others in need.

Need railing on the stairs? bah, tell your wife the 2x4s that are there are perfectly fine!

... as revenge for losing the battle with the cabinet color :D

Great Build! Of both your ecosystem and your fishies. It will be interesting to see who likes their new home more? Lol

I can guarantee you that I will like it more. The fish don't have a media room to chill in. I do! Lol.

Awesome!!!

Looks likes I should go back to school to be a dentist lol

Ha ha. Good luck. Let me know how it goes. :). However as I stated, dentistry is my hobby. I was able to sell my company which helped to pay for the house.

Getting close! Must be getting excited :)

Yes! Can't wait.

Ok next home we go bigger! :eek1: (there will not be a next home!)

Simply Beautiful. Like so many other here, I'm looking forward to following your build.

Thank you! The train started a bit slow but we are really building up steam. Next couple of weeks will be epic!

Landscaping must mean move in day is around the corner! Awesome pics. Can't wait to see the fish room and tank wet!

Yes. Movers are on standby. Furniture is ready to be delivered. I'm hoping a couple more weeks. We had to buy essentially all new furniture as we sold our last house furniture.

I am just speechless. Very very very impressive

Thank you!

Question"¦. If you knew how big your sump was going to be why not have designed a door on the right side of the "closet" so you could easily slide in or slide out the sump? If there is no room on the right side then I completely understand.

It's a great question. Originally I was working with a few fish consultants and installers and we were going to do just a standard sump. A separate skimmer, separate refugium, etc etc. everything was going to fit nicely in the room but it was going to be individual pieces. Problem was I just wasn't satisfied with the esthetics of it all. It looked too choppy, too thrown together. I wanted something more esthetic and pleasing to the eye. I eventually found the Dreambox and Royal Exclusive but by that time, the framing and doors were already up.

I spoke to my contractor to redo the doors but then the problem was if we did bifold doors, to open the center of the fish room, then you lose climate control. The entire fish room is on a dedicated AC unit to keep the room at proper temperature instead of it getting hot in the arizona summers.

We also discussed having the entire garage air conditioned but getting a proper seal on the garage doors is problematic and in the summer months, I would lose a lot of the cold air to leaks to the outside.

Not that the sump is actuslly here, I might revisit the idea of a single door on either side- right and left, and then some sort of roll up or bifold doors in the middle. I don't think my contractor envisioned what the sump would look like so he might have some other ideas.

I'm not a fan of spending all this money and hiding the sump behind closed doors so let's say this part might still be pending.

I agree. I just need to paint the 2x4s. :lolspin:

Got it. Makes sense now and I agree with you. Im sure that sump cost you a lot of money so it would be a shame not to show it off.

Ideally a glass slider would be best but they are also not as energy efficient. Wait till you see the sump light up with LED lights!

Looks great!

Is there enough space to put a door at the end of the sump room? You don't really need a door. It could be just a hole that is repaired after the sump is in. Or you could put a tall window there to be the envy of all your fish tank geek friends!

We are pretty confident that sump will slide in with no issues cause the ceiling is very high inside. I would avoid the window only because on the right side of the fish room will be the water mixing tanks. Not the most slightly equipment. I've got a meeting set up with army builder to see if we have other options instead of the bland doors. Now that the sump is actually here, he can envision it better.

Here are all the goodies that were packed within the Dreambox. 6 pumps, skimmer and 3 reactors plus lots of odds and ends such as hoses, instructions, unions etc:

A close up of the skimmer. This this is a beast and built like a truck!

Media reactors. Again- sturdy and solid. Not some cheapo plastic. Very well built:

Skimmers and reactors together:

Pumps - (2) 230 watt, (1) 80 watt, 2 pumps for the skimmer

Everything tucked away- awaiting install- begins next week:

What are you using for flow? Are you going to attach the powerheads to the center overflow so they will be less of an eyesore?

Yup. debated going open vs closed loop forever and finally decided that I didnt want any extra holes in the tank that I didnt need. We will use powerheads at the center column to create flow in the tank. Depending on how it ends up, I might add some powerbeads on either side as well - maybe the corners? Dont quite know- have a meeting with the team on Tuesday to discuss all this stuff, now that the tank is installed and sump has finally been delivered.

You want access?? You cant handle the the access!!!
Will the light rack retreat all the way up into that recess above the canopy? You will need all that space to get large items like pre-built rock structures up and into the tank. You will also need every bit of that headroom to reach inside for cleaning and retrieving, trust me. A light rack that moves all the way out of the way can make a big difference to the ease/difficulty of maintenance.
