Yup. debated going open vs closed loop forever and finally decided that I didnt want any extra holes in the tank that I didnt need. We will use powerheads at the center column to create flow in the tank. Depending on how it ends up, I might add some powerbeads on either side as well - maybe the corners? Dont quite know- have a meeting with the team on Tuesday to discuss all this stuff, now that the tank is installed and sump has finally been delivered.
Here are all the goodies that were packed within the Dreambox. 6 pumps, skimmer and 3 reactors plus lots of odds and ends such as hoses, instructions, unions etc:
A close up of the skimmer. This this is a beast and built like a truck!
Media reactors. Again- sturdy and solid. Not some cheapo plastic. Very well built:
Skimmers and reactors together:
Pumps - (2) 230 watt, (1) 80 watt, 2 pumps for the skimmer
Everything tucked away- awaiting install- begins next week:
@Nuxx- I love me some beer. Intact Im a beer drinker over a wine drinker but for resale purposes, we decided to put in a nice cellar to store many types of adult beverages.
Good point...
When we did a road trip from Los Angeles to Vegas to Tuscon to Ruidoso to Austin I bought a big cooler for beer. Then ended up having to buy another haha
When in Vegas our Hotel caught on fire and all I could think about was the beer up in the room...
Had some furniture sitting around after we redid our master bedroom and upstairs office and traded some people moving to Austin from Chicago a coffee table for some Three Floyds beer haha
BTW: Going with WOLF
I was in vegas when the cosmpolitan went up in flames, lucky we were safe and sound in the Flamingo, glad you guys were okay
Good point...
BTW: Going with WOLF
Haha small world
We were pretty high in the tower that looks like it was on fire.
We had just left to go across the street to a BOA ATM.
When we got across the street we looked across the street to see that. Burned for about 45 minutes.
Turned out to be the "relaxed" pool's foam palm trees caught on fire.
Funny thing that was on my wife's 30th birthday and we were going to just hang out at the pool for her birthday but changed our minds. So we would have been there as that happened.
We have stayed at the Cosmo a few times, but this was the first time we stayed over a weekend. The crowd was VERY different from what we had seen before. All just Bros and other levels of drunk early 20 somethings. We're fairly young, but get along better with older people... so not really our thing. Main reason we decided against going to the pool.
A couple of NBA players at one of the bars showed me a video they shot of the fire starting, pretty scary stuff :furious:
I had some friends that were at the Aria at that weekend at the pool. They said it was crazy with the fire.
Smart man. Its probably the best of the commercially available units for a relatively reasonable price. For kicks- look up the price of a La Cornue stove. Ill take 2 please!
Yup! I was there with my bball team, and we ventured out on the strip that day when we weren't supposed to, just to go see the fire. I saw that video too. Crazy stuff I heard that the guy was smoking and lit something on fire
Awesome stuff really. Would you mind providing the dimensions of the sump? i bet the shipping costs were a nightmare for that beast.
I don't have my computer in front of me with the specs but it's roughly 10 feet long, 30 inches wide and about 30 inches high. Shipping from Germany was about $2500 in addition to the actual cost of the sump. All in all just the sump, skimmer, pumps, reactors and shipping was about 16 grand. That doesn't include sump room, tank, cabinetry, plumbing etc etc. please don't ask me to add up the entire cost of the project. Not only will I get depressed but it's an "off budget" item.
So $20k for the entire build?
