100g My First Tank

Alrighty finaly got home and off the blackberry to check out somethings you guys suggested.

-AzdesertRat i checked newegg and couldnt find the Vantec Stealth DC fans, i just found the case fans. Unless thats what your talking about, i never seen a plug that plugs into a 4 prong computer power connection. Just checked my circut breakers looks like i will be running my entire aquarium and kitchen appliances on a 15amp breaker, unless i do some serious wiring thru out the apartment.

also the Tunze NanoStreams and these http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...2004+22788+2035
they seem basicly the same concept?

i will be having a fuge probably the last thing i build and buy, after the chiller

Where is a good place to buy nano streams

that is a good site, i think i can do that with my set up, the only problem is like it says in the site

like inadequate drainage (hole numbers and sizes)

I screwed my self and only got a drain hole to fit a 1" bulk head so gettin the water out of the tank i would have to have a pump or something to pull it over and then into the "manifold"

You know, I've always wondered why people didn't vary their return more... tons of return outlets and one powerful pump would be so much better than than tons of powerheads AND a return pump... and probably more efficient, too...

Thanks for that link!

You can get them in surge protector form, too.

Just watch your amperage ratings... don't wanna overload one. I'm sure there are other ones than that one, but that's what google gave me... lol.

Also, FWIW, Northern Tool has a good little generator for $150 if you're interested in power backup for your tank.

The TUnze nano stream is good....but the Koralia is exactly the same at a lowecost with no noticeable impact as far as power and heat. I actually have the TUnze as well.....

Alo Im not sure if I read if you are doing a closed loop. But you have options to drilling the tank. Take a look at my thread you will see what Im talking about. Didnt want to drill the tank because I plan to sell i within the next year when I move to my 210-250 gallon tank. In any case....keep us posted on your progress.

Ya im seriously thinking of doing closed loop. I seen set ups like you have in that pic where the tubing goes under the sand and come up in the corners. I just dont like the idea of seeing the pipes pop up from the sand. So i will probably do the other style with the piping going around the top of the tank like a halo hehe. the only problem I need help is how do i design the pipe to get the water out of the tank and to the pump.

Ty for the nice flash GFCI I will be installing one of those this weekend also
