A word about Calcium Reactors

A word about Calcium Reactors

When building this tank, Emster highly recommended a calcium reactor coupled with an aquariumplants.com digital regulator. I took his advice and am glad I did. Not only does it keep my alkalinity rock solid, it adds all the essential elements listed below. I'm convinced it is part of the reason this tank is so easy to maintain and corals seem to be growing fine.

Here are the latest stats.

Not sure what salt u r using but u may want to switch to something with lower alk. On the zeovit system u will get burnt tips and bleach ur corals if u maintain alk above 7.5.

I am liking the Red Sea pro salt alk is under 8 for me. Or dial back the calcium reactor. Good luck

OK, I'll get Red Sea pro on my next salt purchase. Right now I've been slowly dialing back the reactor and it seems to be going the right direction. The corals look happy so I don't want to make any fast adjustments but you can see I have those Alk readings highlighted in Red - need to Alk them lower for sure. Thanks for the salt recommendation!

As you know I run my system very sober (Dutch Royalty Reef) with reactors etc. etc...
I use KZ products but not Zeovit system as it take all my free time with dosing. I only dose next to my calcium reactor Shuran jetstream 1 Reef tonic 1 and 2, magnesium from QFI and strontium from QFI and as last my biopellet reactorwith royal exclusive bio pellets. Thats all

I will recommend Aquarium Systems reef crystals salt. It has all the element values you are looking for. And special potassium (K) is 390.

In the past I try a lot off different salt mixes and this is for me a good salt. Salt is always personal and tank stock depended.

Wow...congrats to your NO3 drop significantly lately......but why your target much higher!?

Bacteria need balanced amounts of PO4 and NO3 in order to thrive and consume both. When in balance, my skimmer pulls out much more skimate and PO4 and NO3 drop together. This method lets me get away with frequent feedings for the anthias. If NO3 goes to zero, my PO4 tends to rise.

Great build man! I'm following along. Hopefully you can get your phosphates sorted out sooner rather than later.

Hello SoCalDude, PO4 tested out at 0.04 this past Sunday so I think I'm back on target with that one. I caused the problem myself and will try not to make the same mistakes over. Thanks for following.

I treated myself to a GHL doser with built in controller this week. Shih87 and GlennF both have incredible reef tanks and they both praise the success of their tanks to the consistency they get by using dosers. I like to try to copy what those more successful than I do so I thought it would be a good idea start using a doser.

You need the regular Red Sea salt, not the pro. The alk levels are to high for the Zeovit system. But your numbers are looking good.

Now that's a treat I don't mind getting myself.

.......

Congrats on getting a new tool.
