-2 Coralife 50/50 bulbs 10 watt but act as 50 watt (i dont get it)
-Maxi jet 1200 15$
-10lbs Natures ocean sand 8$
- 30-35lbs of LR was free but not because it was from other tanks

I still have one question.....
Do i need to put the MJ in the tank to have the right amount of flow or what???
Because im seeing alot of people having AC filters with PH's but that just my observation. So if any body has any suggestions ......well you know what to do.=)

have a nice day Steve

Well, a Maxi Jet 1200 might be a little overkill in a 10g. But if you position and play with it for a while, you can make it so it hits the surface and spreads. Just a suggestion.

I would definitely use the powerhead. The more water flow , the better. The goal is to eliminate all dead spots, that being areas of the tank where there is little or no water flow.

Cheers and good luck... looks like it will be a really cool looking nano ;)

Nice start. I would recommend another powerhead in there for extra flow. But then again I have 2200gph flowing through my 29 gallon :D

OCDP and yoda- i will definitly be putting the powerehead in then. Just wanted some extra opinions.

Steven- yes. And they are about 12 bucks each. They put out 50 watts. Ive used them before and they work great(as in growing corals). I used them on a 12g custom i built back in march but then i moved to here(Florida) and had to tear it down. I was going to use that tank but it shattered in the move and i had an extra 10g sitting around so i used it. So when i moved down here i bought 2 new ones. I was growing acopora frags before this in the 12g. So yea they work.=)

And to everone out there... I just realized that there is nothing inmy tank but rock!!!! ahhh.....but hey i have to patient for another week or two because im not to sure about the cycling on this because i used 4 gallons from the old tank and a fresh new 4 gallons(its 8 because the rock takes up about 2 gallons of space).
In other words can i or cant i put some inverts in already or no. opinion are welcome.=)
Steve

Pattylucylaura- Yes i had 3 frags of acros at the top of the tank. The bulbs are "compact flourescent" at 50 watts , with built in ballast's, for a total of 100 watts. And yes there was growth on the acros but, very slow. And like always you have to have perfect water parameters to do so.

hey yoda- u have a 75 turnover rate.. hows that workin out

Pretty good, but I still have some dead spots in the rocks where junk builds up. But my corals are loving all the flow!

Let me rephrase....It puts out 50 watts but it's one of those conserve energy bulbs that makes it put out energy to that of a 10 watt. Am i wrong or right???

Ok so the maxi jet didnt work. Way to much flow. Any suggestions for a PH??? And when can i start stocking because ive never done half cycled water and hlaf not cycled water?? Can i or not??
Steve

the bulbs are really only 20watts put together(10 watts each)
"when they say as bright as a 50 watt bulb!" they are just trying to get you to buy something
but idk, if you grew those acros
im curious as to see what i can do with 2 of those 50/50s

i ordered them from dr foster/smith a few days ago as well as a return pump for a 2.5 gallon tank but it cracked so i think i will upgrade to a 10 if they work alright

might need a few powerheads but thats ok

do those lights need a UV filter?

Test your water and you should be able to answer the question of the cycled tanK!

I've been running those exact lights on my 10g nano and having no problems keeping softies, shrooms and lps. You can buy them at Petco for $13 or Meijer for $10.

Wait for your water to be fully cycled. Your cycle comes from the rock and sand or whatever biofiltration you have, not the water column.

Well thats the one thing i forgot to buy.....test kits. So i will probably get test kits within the next few days. But i still dont have a PH, so i have to look for one. The MJ 1200 was way to powerful for the fine sand in my tank it would not stop blowing it around so i took it out. Im just not seeing enough flow in the back left corner.
