120 gallon upgrade and build thread :)

blah..... 1 day ill keep my hands out of the tank and leave my rock alone.... well on a good note ive got tons more space for corals with the 50+lbs i added tonight :P

Hey, I change the scape in my tanks literally twice a year. The scapes get old and boring... I totally get it!
You were speaking on another Tang for the little Hippo; What about a Kole? Those are underrated, IMO. They dominate algae, and look really awesome. Very peaceful fish, too.

Ya i had a kole in the past, but my yellow tore it up ..... loved the fsh

+1 on the Kole tangs. I'm a huge fan of those fish.

Best of all the bristle tooth tangs for algae cleaning, doesn't get super huge, and as Steph said...really peaceful little guys. Love them.

Also, I was AT THE STORE when you bought that blue tang? Man, I'm out of it some days. I blame the lack of sleep. If I had known you were buying it I woulda told you to get a Kole tang instead! They're not major ich magnets! hah hah.

Nice Aquascaping, Will look awesome when everything grows out.

The aquascaping has changed since that pic was taken. didnt have enough live rock per size of my tank. Right now its sitting at 100lbs. Need to up my flow soon or find a nice sand sifter, getting cyano outbreaks on a weekly basis.

Do you have a lid? If SO, buy Justin's Jawfish! He's a gorgeous sand sifter. He doesn't sift in the traditional sense, like a sleeper goby would but he builds burrows and tosses the sand around.

yes i have a glass canopy on the top. Ive seen the jawfish burrow and make caves, but never seen one actually sift the sand like a diamond watchman

They don't sift it really. They just move it around so it ends up getting stirred up enough to be cleaned.

I added a diamond watchman goby a few days ago Mel :) hes doing an awesome job at stirring my sand up.. lol but making my tank hazy... Any ideas as to removing this stuff? I was thinking a low flow hob overflow ran into a 10g refugium with a filter sock in first chamber. Ive already predrilled my stand for running a small refugium in it :)
