120g wallet drainer

I got sand and rock in the tank last night. There is now a 1 inch layer of foam on the surface in the sump, and i can't run the skimmer because even with the tube all the way down it fills up in about 30 seconds. I'm assuming it's because of the dust from the sand. My filter sock clogged up pretty quick and starting oveflowing foam out of the top of it. I'm gonna let it run for a day and see if everything works itself out.

Ok, I'm not done aquascaping yet, and i need to finish making and then paint all the doors. I have tons of micro bubbles, I'm going to *** some baffles in the sump tommorow should clear it up. And the water is a little yellow, but it's clearing up. Just waiting for it cycle.

Scott Super Job!! Where did You get the timer for the lights from?

I also get The Luminex Minis for my 120, love them! I'm useing Reeflux 10 k .Are you going to supplement them with Actinic? I like to but I don't know where I can mount them since the mimi's take up so much room..
chuck

I'm using XM 10K's on icecap ballasts, and i got the minis from tony. The light rack i built has a place front and back to mount my 2-36" T5's for actinic, hard to see in the pic but i'll be adding them within a week. I def want actinic i dont like how yellow the 10ks are. I'm going to go with one true actinic and one blue plus, i'm going to order them from les today.

The timer is a coralife, got it from either aquacave or thatpetplace, first timer controls 3 outlets, second timer controls 4 outlets but when 2 are on the other 2 are off and vise versa. so 3 for daylight, 2 for actinic, 2 for moonlight. This means the moonlights are on all night long which i don't think i like so i might use a seperate timer for them. It was about 30 bucks, had it on my old tank.

I'll get a pic once i add the actinics, i'll try to remember to get a pic of the light rack out of the tank so you can see it better.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, I've been planning it for over a year in my head, and i couldn't have done it without all your help and ideas. I stole a little from lonnies tank, a little from erics, a little from liannas, as you can see from my overflow a little from anthony. Just think, we are that much closer to me not posting an annoying question ever 2 days. thanks again.

LOL now it has been my job to post an annoying question every 2 days :D

You can also get that timer from Cindy at jcaquatics I use one and really like it.

This looks great! You got it all put together pretty quickly also. I had an old stand and tank I bought years ago and never set up. Finally decided to at the end of January and it was not until last week that I actually put water in it for a leak test. (Granted, I did refinish the stand and build the sump...but still!) Of course I changed my mind on pumps and decided to bit the bullet and add a chiller, which means another pump and more plumbing...sigh.

At least the new pumps and chiller should arrive tomorrow and I can start on it this weekend.

Anyway, just wanted to say that you have a very impressive setup there.

PS - Forgot to mention that I went into Suffolk Reef and Fish for the first time in March. Wanted to start looking for some good live rock and they wanted $11.99 a pound and it looked lifeless. Of course if I bought 50 lbs. it would have only been $9.99...it took all I had to not laugh. I did check out all their fish and they didn't seem to be too badly priced and did look healthy and nice.

Well it's not cheap but check out Fishy... Les gets some Marshal Island stuff that I wish I would have bought! It's not cheap but very Unique.

Also for some base rock I dont think you can beat Marco's rock :)

I tested my water after work today, and my ammonia is zero, nitrite is down to .25, and nitrate is around 10. I don't want to rush it, but I might be adding fish within the next few days assuming my trites go to zero.

when i do move all the fish over, does anyone have any advice for acclimating them? should i bag them and acclimate them like normal, or put them all together in a bucket and drip aclimate them?

also.... I'm thinking about buying 2 hydor Koralias. I wanted the 3's just because i'm afraid the 4's are going to cause a sandstorm, but everyone seems to be sold out. i think i'll try out the 4's.

Anyone know much about the magnet mount? I want to put one on the right side of my tank, but as you can probably see from the pic there is a cabinet right up against the side of the tank so i can't fit the magnet in there. Is there anyway around this or do i have to just put it on the back instead?

all the fish are happily checking out their new home. Catching the blue chromis was actually much harder than the six line wrasse, but both were tricky. the red lobo is the only thing didn't didn't seem to take the move well, but hopefully in a few days it will bounce back.

Scott,
I have the Hydor 3's, just received them from Marine Depot. I had originally ordered them in the beggining of March however Hydor recalled them from all the resale suppliers. The newer versions were just released. The only models that were effected were the 2's and 3's. Regarding the magnets: they are approximately 3/4" - 1" thick, (I'm not sure, I'd have to measure), so you only need a small clearance to mount on the sides.
Frank

ok i have very few critters as of now. But i just got my lights, here are a few pics. once i get the doors on i'll borrow my moms camera and take some good pictures.

Chuck i tried to take a pic of the light rack but it's not the best. the lumenarcs ride on angle iron and the t5 are bolted to the flat strips on the outside.

Just read through your whole thread..great planning..great results!! Congrats!!
The magnets on the Koralias are about 1/2 thick. Cindy at JC Aquatics has them, you'd get them the next day if you order from her. I love mine!

Ok one last set of pics for anyone who isn't tired of me yet. I got the doors finished and painted. I'm going to try to get a new fish and a bunch of coral within the next week or so, but the majority of the build is done. My camera is a pos, and i have bad lighting down there so the pics don't nearly do it justice, but here it is. it at least LOOKS finised.
