125 build

The was I post about a guy selling dossing pumps! And he just said to make and offer? Yeah I want to get new lights
Yes I saw the post on dosing pumps but I don't have the cash right now. This is why this has been a slow build for me. I buy what I can when I can afford it.

I wish I could just buy all the stuff for a huge tank like 800 gal or something then I could get so cool stuff and big fish!

Ya I wish I could afford everything all at once but it don't work like that so I have to buy things here and there.

Yup that's the stuff I'm getting. And it looks beautiful. The tank I really want is his huge empty one that is has one the side wall over by his corals, which he will be setting up soon he hope.

No, the one next to the water room is up and running. The other huge one at the back of the store. The big monster of tank he has

Ya. I'll probably be going back down there this week sometime to get more rock and to talk to him about other equipment as well as picking up some more test kits

He usually is there after 5ish but I only deal with him and that is the arrangement I have with him.I usually stop in on my Friday after work which is Saturday around six.

Plus I also have his personal number.

I know once I get my tank cycled with my light I'll be selling some down this on rock because I mainly want a sps tank.

The zoanthus are great beginner coral however I am a little bored with them and as I said I'm mainly wanting a sps tank.

Ya I can understand and relate what you mean I'm just tired of the zoanthus this that I can. But I enjoy my frogspawnw that I have it just keeps grown and growing. Started with one head now it has three plus nine new heads that are starting to forum

I think I've made a decision on my lighting. I going to do H.o. T5 mixed with leds.

Specifically the ATI 60 Inch 8x80W SunPower T5HO High-Output Fixture and the Reef Brite TECH LED Blue Strip Light - 60 Inch

Pictures are from marine depot.
this is the light I'm getting evo.

I looking into getting better lighting
After a long talk with will and tony at epic ocean's they suggested the mix lighting with t5 and led combo. I was also shown the effects that it will have on the tank with more coverage less shadowing.

Now the next part has so many opinions on it

Leds are great and can save money in the long wrong, however I do believe leds and still very new the aquarium world and have fully gotten everything worked a out. I was caught up in the hype with my lfs ( not epic ocean's ) and didn't know what was best and what was not. I have a hydra 52 as I've stated a few times before. And I'm not for these new school leds to many factors and variations with the settings. To me its not user friendly at all. So do to all my troubles with leds I decided to go with my mix lighting. Now don't get me wrong I was for leds and saving me who isnt. But when I have to sit there and rack my brain trying to figure out what intensity I should have each color it becomes overwhelming.

I did a lot of thinking over this matter especially when I decided to do this build with the 125. Ultimately I decided I would still with old school t5 and have heard a lot of success with t5 and leds mix combo.

I hope I haven't confused you at all. I have read up a lot on leds, leds and t5, mh, and t5.

Yes you can get the same growth with leds that you can with t5 but it can take time to achieve. So say t5 is the way to go others say mh, or even leds. Its very opinionated at this day in age. I think in years to come leds will get better and they can be unlimited ends that can be achieve with coral growth and color factors.

However like I said this is a very opinionated subjects and can be touch at times depending on you talk to cause some swear up and down with leds. So before you decided on upgrade/ changing your lighting system for your tank, take the time and do the research. Read the reviews, studies and even the forums on leds as well as specific leds systems. Reasarch the comparison between all options. Then decided. But in the end regardless of what anyone tells you on which is better or worse. Ultimately you are the one who has to live with the choice on what you get and look at it daily as it sits over your tank. No body else.

Good luck.

P.s. I really hope I didn't confuse you or lose you in what I was trying to say.

Update

There really isn't much of a update as I'm still gather live rock for the tank slowly. Should be able to get more live rock next weekend.

This weekend I am planning on doing my second 25 water change on the tank. Now I know for a fact things are going to be off especially the sg. During the black Friday's sales I pick up a tunze 3155 osmulator ato. Was looking forward to not having to keep an eye on the water. So I got it Monday hooked it all up plugged it in and turned it on. Waited about a half hour and every thing looked normal so I went to bed. The following morning I noticed the ato had dumped close to 5 gallons into the tank. So I unplugged it and didn't gave time to deal with it as I was about to leave for work. I came home and started over with reassembling it. The same thing happened the following morning. And mind you that I did remove water from my sump. There was no need for me to do so however I did just because I wanted to set the system back to the set position for my water line in my sump. Again serving no main purpose. Now after the second day this happened where the ato dumped water into the sump I decide to contact both tunze and bulk reef supplies explain what I was experiencing and this was not the first unit I have owed.

Tunze sent me a diagram on how the ato should be set up. So I made sure everything was setup properly. Now in the mean time I heard back from bulk reef supplies and they have already sent on a ups shipping label and are willing to replace the ato at no additional cost to me if the problem continues.

Tunze is still trying to troubleshoot the problem of the ato dumping excessive amounts of water into the sump.

So I've decided after playing with the unit yesterday most of the afternoon to let bulk reef supplies that I want to replace the unit.

So it that is why I know my system will be off when I doing testing. Even though I know I don't have to test everything when it's a new tank in cycling I like to so I can monitor the changes and make any corrections as needed.

I look forward to hopefully getting a new tunze ato system.
