125 vs 75 opinions.

Well heres the question. I have the opportunity to upgrade my 75 for a 125. No cost transaction. straight trade. my tank is a year older that the 125, all equipment with the125 is equal to what I run on my 75 : euroreef skimmer couple of pumps, power compact lights on mine, corallife aqualight fixture on the 125 ,stand and canopy with mine, no stand or canopy with 125. both are AGA" reef ready".

Question is will there be a signifigant increase in electrical and overall operating cost associated with running the 125 vs 75.

Was planning an upgrade to t5 lighting anyway for the 75. And would do that with the 125. is about a hundred more fo r the 125 setup.

What would you do?

I made the same upgrade. I love the space for the extra fish, but it is a bit more expensive. Mostly for the cost of additives and salt. There's also the extra 2 ft to light which means more bulbs to buy down the road. Don't forget about the heater either.

yeah i didnt think about the salt costs. hmmm. the lighting is an issue as well, but hahnmeister over in the t5 thread suggested the faunamarin retro 60" to someone else and it sounds like a plausible solution. would you say your electric bill went up much?

Gee I don't know.....to upgrade or not to upgrade...Hmm,... Heloooo, If you don't take the deal you will regret it. Just think of the possibilities! more water, more corals, more fish! dammm I getting excited just thinking about an upgrade, do it.

yeah... I knew i shouldn't have started this thread.
better to let people think your an idiot ...than to start a 'should I upgrade' thread and prove your an idiot

Maybe not....Unless your corals and fish are literally growing out of your tank, maybe an upgrade is not warranted at this time. I do agree with the move to t5s over pcs, especially if trying to keep light demanding corals or inverts. I think all of us out there would love to have tanks you could swim in, but if your asking the question about costs, I am certain you know that upgrades will cost money.....lotsssssss..... My upgrade from a 55 to a 75 cost me lots of money and many unforseens....just my 2 cents....
