Let me know how the Colini acclimates, I just put a request to one of my contacts to replace my Venustus (perhaps with a pair) and a Colini.

The last couple of Colini I have seen have been from Australia, and the price was a little outrageous.

Hey Dave,

Good to hear from you! I agree, there is something very special about these Goldens...I don't recall them being this bright either- they really look like they are lit from within, and it is not just when the light hits them right. I have been very surprised by how bold this particular one is when the tank is bare of pvc, as my experience is similar to yours. They are the shy, reclusive, and rarely ever seen fish that they are known to be. In my situation, to make matters worse, the back of the 250 qt is painted black with makes it virtually impossible to see them. If you recall, I had a pair in addition to this one and I never, ever saw them so I passed the pair on to a buddy. But when I clean the tank and remove the pvc, this lil fish loves to come up to the glass to check me out, she doesn't seem timid at all, and in fact, has stood up to the Joc...when the pvc is back in the tank I only catch glimpses of her when I feed the tank. May have to put her in a tank almost bare of pvc to see how she reacts.
Cool story and you lucky duck for being there 20 years ago, lol. Any pics? I remember reading about them hitting back then. This was a "holy grail." Imo, it should still be, they are overlooked or perhaps their reputation is an obstacle but these fish are stunning.
The Colins seems to be settling down nicely. She had a few issues while qt in Kevin's tank and that delayed shipping a few times. She came in Dec and was with him and was went thru a few med rounds. 3 months in his tank, with his attention, and his qt regimen, is a great start to a healthy fish! Hopefully she will continue to do well for me. She is a big fish, probably as long as the conspic. She came from Cocos, make sure yours comes from Cocos as I have heard neg things about other collection points, although if coming direct from Aust. I would trust that.

Toss-up some pics if you get the colins.

I had an anxiety dream about a conspic angel last night and blame YOU. When you treat a fish for say flukes, is that before it hits the 250? or does everyone in the 250 get treated? Just wondering because I'm a noob and new to QT, my possum wrasse never ate, but my ora mimic blenny it doing fine.
 
Your collection of fish is truly Amazing, and inspiring.Not sure if you covered this in previous pages but what skimmer are you using

They would all get treated...If a new fish is added to a qt with exisiting fish the qt "clock" gets reset.

I just got word that a wholesaler from Vanuatu has them listed and after a request is put in, they take two weeks to collect them... Starting to dig into it a bit more.
 
I don't know if anyone asked this yet, but when you have people look at your tank who have no knowledge of fish, which fish gets the most attention. Is it the clarion? Most people could have a tank full of ignitus anthias and all people will notice is the little percula swimming being hosted by a powerhead. Do people notice the pricier fish before the less expensive ones?

lol, that always depends on who is looking at the tank...some go to the interrupta, some to the clarions, some the cortez, others the bandits...
 
I think the whole setup must be amazing in person! From the custom built tank to the combination of fish and all the beautiful species, I don't know how anyone could pick just one! This has to be my favorite thread! I think it's really nice of you to put the time in to share with us. Thanks, Ted!

I keep hearing and reading about how Angels only go together with other angels if they are introduced at the same time. How do you get your angels to get along with each other, since they are all being introduced at different times?

Also is a joc angel a mix between a bicolor and lemon peel angel?
 
Angels don't only get along when all introduced at once? You want to make sure you have your pairs together prior to hitting to DT but as long as your adding angels or any fish in the proper manor they should get along if added over time.

They spend time in the 2 qt together..there is a lot of pvc pieces for them to hide in..the dt has plenty of lr set-up in a way to provide areas of refuge for all sizes of fish, and I keep them very well fed...lights off for a few days when adding fish to dt and I keep the lights dialed way back if I am not in front of the tanks...ime/imo bright lights often lead to increased aggression...

The joc is not a hybrid...Centropyge joculator from Cocos Keeling...

I have not always added pairs or a 3rd at the same time...
