130 X 36 x 36 inbound...any suggestions?

Woot! How cool is that. I was just thinking about your tank, I feel like you've had some new additions, but we haven't seen any full tank update shots recently. I'm sure your busy, no pressure.

Any ambitions of raising candy basslets?

Thanks! It was very cool to see...No new additions, the last was the Colins and the baby conspic before that. Will be moving a lot of fish to the dt soon to make room for the incoming fish.
Wrapping-up a wc and will try and toss up some new pics...

I am not capable of attempting to raise the eggs with my current configuration...

I may just be thinking of the lemon peels and basslets. I didn't know if they are going in the big tank or heading to another one.

It is one thing to see the ritual but to see the actual release was just mind-blowing! I wish I could save the eggs and try to raise but not ready to undertake something like that...

That is awesome and really would be a cool fish to see captive bred. Ive seen the dance a few times with wrasses but never actually seen eggs released.

OT-the babies landed this morning and as you said look great.

Thank you Peter!

Are they broadcast spawners? For some reason in my head I assumed they were nest builders :o

It has been done!! Todd G did it recently on Long Island, up by me....his info on them is crazy and the pics must be seen!

lol, I am not really sure which fish are going to the dt...
going to try adding the conspic, 2 clarion, joc, golden, maybe the 5 candy...
colins and navarachus may stay in the 250 and the geni hybrid trio will join them...the col and nav will have to be moved to dt, just not sure if I want to do it yet.
the pairs in the 125 will remain- lemon peel, coral beauty, bi-color..
the multicolor and cocos pairs are already in one of the dt fuges...

Candy breeding by Todd Gardiner...
Great stuff!
http://cdn.reefs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Candy-Bass-5002.jpg

After a staggering larval period of 126-143 days, three of the candy bass larvae at the Long Island Aquarium have finally reached settlement. They still have not fully developed their characteristic stripes and they are still wielding dorsal filaments and sacs, but they have taken on a benthic existence and have begun eating frozen Cyclop-eeze and small mysid shrimp. Considered by many to be the holy grail of the grouper family, this colorful little bass often retails for more than $1000 (US). Don’t expect this exciting news to have any impact on that price in the near future. Between the high larval mortality and a larval period around twice that of the closely related swiss guard bass, Liopropoma rubre, the candy bass is still a long way from commercial viability. Nevertheless, I am considering this a victory and I will be celebrating accordingly with some Bombay Sapphire tonight. For more details on the history of this project and spawning and rearing techniques, check out the summer issue of reefs magazine, or come hear about it in person at the MBI workshop on July 28th.

Such amazing stuff!!!

too good, had to share again...

I knew you had the two lemon peel pairs. Those have always been one of my favorites, but I've never tried them. I was always told that they were not keepable, but that's obviously not the case.
