150 watt DE MH lamps compared

Scott - Have you tested any 10K's. I am getting close to having to replace and was just curious as to which to get.

Thanks.

Anyone tested the Aquaconnect 14k? Ive seen them in pictures and the color looks perfect in pictures, I wonder how they do in tests...

I am fairly certain Aquaconnect has someone making the bulbs for them. Very few compaies are actually manufacturing the DE bulbs. Find out who it is and we'll get close or already have data ;>)

btw: to answer your previous question, I went Ushio 20K because I picked them up for <$45ea by the box.

Narkon,

Have one Radium in the pile. Different color than the other 20K's and I have it at the end of my testing priority due to what appears to be very high relative costs. Seemingly ballast sensitive BUT:

One of the ballasts in the test box appears to be dead, not sure if it effected some of the numbers. Not sure whether I'll replace it since it does not appear to be a popular variant. In addition, I need to get one of my IC Ballast bumped back to 150wt from 70wt so I am down 2 ballast types at the moment.

My wife feels the 10K BLV is to white, and she wants something more blueish. Thinking the Radium since a friend told me that they bring out the florescent in the corals.

Do they really have to be replaced every 6 months instead of 12?

I can't predict the longevity of a radium.

I have gotten pretty impressive numbers from 2 and 3 year old Ushio and Osrams.

fwiw: To me the samples of Ushio/BLV/HIT 20K appears more blue then the 10K has some level of "actinic effect" and the XDE20K and CV20K appear even more blue. Ballast was M81.

Scott: where did you get such a deal and how many are in a box? I love the Ushio 20K bulbs.

The boxes I have purchased have held 10 bulbs. The last batch was purchased on sale in what appeared to be a closeout. They have not carried UHI since :(

Yes I have a few ballasts against the MegaChrome 13K. I don't have a MegaChrome 14K.

fwiw: Recently lost on of the electronic ballasts.

On which ballast and compared to what bulb?

Most of the completed data is the high PAR <10K and the 20K bulbs.

Well I have a Coralife HQI ballast, and that is all the info that is supplied with them. They are in sealed boxes so I have no idea what the most comparable ballast is.

I am just curious to see what kinda numbers the MegaChrome 13K put up. The visual appearance of the light would also be very helpfull.

Thanks for your time!

I believe the Coralife is built to M81 spec's which most of my data is assembled against, so that is good ;>)

Are you looking for the single bulb solution or running multiples to achieve the full the effect?

WOW, this has been on going for almost a whole year. you are very devoted my friend. and i cant believe i read the whole thing.
