1500 gal. Reef from Start to Finish...

Can we get an update on this tank?

I don't work for Cris any more and miss working on this beast (treated it like my own child :)) but I'll bump it for you. I want to see an update too!!!!

:bounce1: Wow!! by far the cleanest, nicest most complete setup I have ever seen for that magnitude. Very nice work guys!!

Questions:

1. Is it acrylic?

2. What is the value of Materials here excluding fish, coral/live rock, the Labour you guys put into it. (hope it's not rude to ask, just wondering about my next step from my 330g system)

3. Are you running a calcium reactor?

Keep up the nice work!! You guys are pro's!!

The tank is 2" Acrylic manufactured by ADHI.

I doubt the owner would want cost public but it is tended to 7 days a week by professionals. This system and the 900g FO in the lobby are easily a full time job on their own.

IIRC the system uses a MRC CCR-8618 Dual reactor.

Thanks! Cris knows what he is doing, glad I had the opportunity to work for him, it was a great experience.

Great looking tanks and also cabinet work. Can you tell us a little about the cabinet work in the main office? Looks like the panels attach with magnets to the steel frame? Who built it and how's it holding up?

It is a mix of hinged doors and access panels that are hung from quick release clips. I'm not sure who did it but I watched them do it. They took veneered boards and used a router to remove a square notch around the edges. The routed perimeter was then painted black. The effect is impressive and I plan on doing the same thing on my next system.

Hope Cris doesn't mind but I snagged this photo off his facebook page, this thread is too dusty. I miss working on this tank and am pulling inspiration from this and several other systems I had the pleasure of working on/building with AAI for my 600gal build.

Still running :)

7 years ago when I worked for AAI the aquarium owner didn't want to discuss any of the financial obligations regarding the system. I doubt that has changed.

This is awesome!!! I was reading this thread and really hoping I would not be dissapointed at the end with a message like "This tank was shutdown" or just no reply to requests for updates. Thank you for posting an update almost 10 years later!

I'm curious. How do you control phosphate in this system?

You're welcome! There was a large GFO/Carbon reactor in use. I'm not sure if that is still the case but I suspect it is. It worked well.

Very cool! I'm going back and forth on what would be best in my system, it's helpful to see what method provides long term results like that.

That tank is a real beauty.

Great to see reef tanks that have been in place for many many years. Looks great!. Those colonies are so big, you lose sight of how big that display really is.
